Really enjoyed our stay. The reception staff were very friendly and check-in was very easy. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. Ideal Hotel for Cardiff Central Train & Bus station as only a very short walk with luggage. Plus the reception staff let us use the luggage room after check-out to go shopping before our return Train journey. Very easy to collect luggage and again short walk to Train/Bus station. It is also only a short walk away from the Motor point arena & main .
all reviews » Staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly. Rooms are well appointed with everything you need. TV with loads of channels, tea/coffee, iron, hair-dryer, alarm clock and phone. Bathrooms usually have bath with shower over but I have had a room with just the shower which is fine for me. Towels are really big and fluffy which earns brownie points from me. Bar area is comfy and bar staff lovely. Had lunch here which was very tasty altho a bit pricey for a sandwich I only used restaurant for breakfast. The hotel is in a great location, in the city centre, 2 mins walk from St Davids shopping centre & all the bars/restaurants. The staff were very nice. We requested a room with a view, & this was catered for, our room was on the 11th (top) floor. Our room was spotlessly clean, & the bed comfy. Toiletries in the bathroom, ample towels, iron & ironing board & safe in the room. The lift was fast. Breakfast was good quality. We parked our car in the ncp car park on Wood Street (a. The hotel was really close to lots of bars and eaterys. Which was exactly what we came for. It was also bang next to the train station so v handy of you are travelling by train. Our room overlooked the busy railway but we were not bothered by any noise from them at all. We had a nice late checkout at 12, with the option of checking out at 5 for an extra £15 which was a nice feature. We didn't use the bar or restaurant a there was so much on the doorstep, but the facilities looked good. Staff w. The beds were super comfortable, lots of pillows and a lovely matress. The room looked really stylish and clean, and the bathroom was a treat! Thwe staff is always very polite and willing to help you out with any problem you might have. The location of the hotel is one of best in Cardiff city, right in the centre, very close to the train/bus station, shopping and night clubs /bars and many different restaurants. This was my second stay at this hotel and I would come back any time, and especial. City centre location close to rail & bus stations, parking nearby (hotel discount available). Request for high floor room accomodated at check-in. Staff responsive when problem identified - window not closing well with resulting external noise; reported to reception - reservation manager came to inspect - offered to send maintenance man to look at window or move to alternative room. Chose the handyman option - problem was swiftly and satisfactorily rectified. (Thanks!) Comfortable beds. Great location - as soon as we stepped out of the train station we could see the hotel. Cardiff Castle, the main shopping area, and plenty of great pubs and restaurants are all about a 10 / 15 minute walk away and there's lots of beautiful buildings to look at along the way. It's extremely close to the train station so you don't need a taxi. There are restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance. We've just had a really enjoyable weekend in Cardiff at this hotel, we've previously stayed at another city hotel who shall remain nameless as we didn't feel welcome or appreciated there. However at this hotel all the staff were friendly and helpful, bar staff were very efficient, food very good, all in all a great hotel at a good price, we'll certainly be back. Our only complaint the air conditioning, on one of the hottest weekends of the year the air con was useless , controlled by reception set at 18 was not suitable, we complained Sevrel times to reception, each room should be able to be controlled by the occupants, as it happens it actually spoiled our weekend. Rooms were spotlessly cleaned daily with towels changed. Ice machine along the corridor was very useful as there was no fridge in the room. Hot drinks provided with kettle. From check in to check out the whole experience was great. We had a wonderful time in Cardiff and cannot fault the hotel, spent far too much time and money in the bar, I blame the very nice barman! The Maldron hotel is right in the heart of the City and is great for all the nightlife and shopping. The room was clean with modern decor and warm for our time of stay we stayed for two nights and had a fab time room was cleaned and fresh towels placed also we were on the eigth floor and had a great view. I would reccomend this hotel. Hotel is ideally located within immediate proximity to the train station and 2 minutes from the town centre. If you are driving, the hotel has an arrangement with Wood Street, NCP and you can park for 24 hrs for 9.00 pounds. The 11th floor was well kept and the rooms very comfortable and clean. The rooms were clean and quite modern. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough to help. The location could not be better with the rail and bus stations right next door and the city shopping and restaurants right on the door step. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. The location is very convenient for the railway station and the city centre. We really appreciated the receptionist who carried our luggage about 300 yards to our disabled parking space in the NCP multi-storey car park. The city of cardiff was above expectations and the hotel met all of our needs except for very cold breakfast plates and very cold fried eggs which were specially cooked to order,not acceptable for your hotel and its food reputation. Location was ideal,l iterally seconds from the train station or if you have to travel by car the ncp is just across the road. Shops, motorpoint arena etc are right on the doorstep. That I only stay for one night once a month !!!. There was no on site parking, however there was reduced parking across the way for less than £15 per 24 hour. Pretty standard prices for Cardiff central as I understand. The shower was not very powerful, but was hot. The bed was quite small and cheap looking but not uncomfortable. Cheaply decorated (plastic bath, wonky tiling etc) it was extremely clean, and for the money and location, what you would expect. Pillows not as good as the beds! Would have liked more electrical sockets, so didn't have to unplug the TV or kettle to plug in my laptop. Socket next to bed would have been useful too. Nothing!. The only negative aspect is that there is no parking at the hotel itself. We have family come over to the hotel most days we are here, and they either have to park some way away for cheaper parking, or pay the extortionate fee's at the NCP car park(s) nearby. Maybe the hotel could arrange for discounted parking at a nearby car park for those people staying there. Didnt realise that I could get facecloths - did without for one night The information sheet in the room was unreadable as it was double printed - got another copy late in the evening, but didnt read relevent info till the morning The food in the cooked breakfast had been allowed to cool down before they were placed on the heaters in the dining room. Air conditioning. Walls were poorly sound insulated and you can hear the next room...and housekeeping team at work early in the morning. Could do with a few more lifts! Bit of a wait when we arrived due to the large groups arriving all at once. Water pressure in the shower was a little weak. Nothing I would recommend this hotel. We did not have breakfast at the hotel because at £9.00 I think it is too expensive, although to be fair that is not just the Maldron, as this appears to be average. We were so close to the city there were ample alternative choices. Poor pick-up and drop-off facilities - especially for the disabled during "no loading" periods when even they can not stop on double yellow lines in the bay opposite, next to Wetherspoons. We will come by train next time. I had food poisoning (Not from the hotel restaurant), and on the morning of the day I was to check out I was still really ill. I was vomiting profusely and called reception to request a late check out as I wasn't well enough to leave the room. I was told that this is not possible. I thought this could have been handled a bit better, as I was really sick, and stay in the hotel pretty frequently and felt there was no attempt to try to assist me whatsoever. Nothing - All good!. Rooms could do with a mini fridge for longer stays with families. Nothing. There was nothing to dislike. Only thing that bothered us was the shower,could do with being more powerful. Bar area is a little stark and lacking in ambiance. The price of the breakfast. In The Great Western pub opposite the hotel you can get a breakfast for a third of the price, and it opens at 7am. No heating in the bathroom, just like a lot of hotels- WHY?. No electric shaver point in bathroom which I needed that's about all. Late cleaning of room after first night. We were back in room getting ready to go out for evening so didn't bother with cleaning. Breakfast was a bit tired:nothing like the quality of the marvellous dinner the night before. In particular, the bread and jams were poor quality and the bacon inexpertly oven cooked so dried out. would be nice to have a fridge in the room. Othewise no complaints. The shaff at the hotel got the bill wrong at the first place, but has corrected afterwards, so not a big deal. none. I hope I will be able to visit the hotel again on leisure break. The hotel is on a main road and just across from some noisy night spots. The double glazing was not entirely effective at keeping out late night noise. If you pushed the "opening" window, this was effective but once you let go you could hear some noise again. Perhaps needs attention to the seals, or re-designing. Even so, I managed to get a reasonable night's sleep. The staff, while friendly and courteous,were unable to give basic information on buses and trains, They gave us misinformation on the airport bus. They were unable to assist us in relation to concert and theatre events. We prefer fresh milk in our tea or coffee but there was no fridge in the room to store this and cold water. Parking was difficult to get in and out of sat nav got us confused and we ended up stuck in a taxi rank!!. didn't find anything I didn't like. One double and one single bed in the room not ideal for two friends sharing. Not sure whether we were unlucky with the location of our room but the heating system seemed to be right overhead and was very noisy, this disturbed us during the night-a real shame as we were very impressed with the hotel in all other ways.
