This hotel was very comfortable (room was a little bit dated though) and we liked being able to use the swimming pool and sauna. The location is great, as it feels like your in the countryside but your only 15 minutes drive from the centre of Cambridge. We really enjoyed the cooked breakfast but the continental table didn't have much on it. Excellent leisure facilities-lovely pool -Room service real haute cuisine-felt like a filmstar! Staff brilliant-i lost an earring and rang themnext day-they had found it and posted it on to me thanks richard forgoing the extra mile!!.
all reviews » Atmosphere, lovely room as had upgrade which was amazing. Was visiting to do exam in newmarket and the hotel helped me relax and made the whole experience a lot less stressfull. Lovely room - we think it was the honeymoon suite! Comfy bed. Good breakfast. Lovely grounds. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the swimming pool.Clean, tidy, friendly, accessible - Nice leisure facilities - Would go back again, hopefully with better weather though. A*. Very quiet for a Saturday night stay, which is what we hoped for !! Excellent breakfast which was included in the room rate. We didn't eat in the hotel as we thought it was very expensive, we also found the bar very expensive too, it cost us £5 for a small pot of tea and a hot chocolate, with synthetic cream on it. We got breakfast included in our special deal price of £89 a night for 2 but if we had paid separate for it, it would of cost £12.95 each which I think is a bit pricey.Rooms could maybe have air conditioning and maybe sky tv. Choice of food on the menu was not extensive, although the quality was good.My wife would have liked whiskey with ginger wine (not ginger ale) and the bar staff were not familar with a hot toddy. Children out of the pool 6pm. Nothing negative to report. If we didn't have a 'deal' it would have been too expensive.The Sunday rate does not apply all week!!. The four poster bed was a bit tacky and the curtains meant that you could not watch the television whilst sitting in bed. The room would have been nicer without the four posts!. The shaver socket didn't work in my room and the leisure gym area was pretty smelly (sweat). Breakfast excellent, but could be improved by serving rolls/croissants warm rather than cold. Unfortunately the gardens were extremely close to the A14 and this did cause some traffic noise, it could not be avoided and could not be heard in the hotel. Bed duvet was winter thickness. Thinner duvet plus optional blanketwould have been better.Hair dryer in room overheated in about 20 - 30 seconds so was impossibleto use properly - However, everything else in the room was perfect!. my room was too small, room 35, not enough room to work with a laptop and files. disappointed with restaurant menu and quality of food for the price breakfast much better. No Smoking Shelter. Minor criticism was a lack of Sunday newspapers, I did not receive the offer and it did not look like this was an ongoing facility. The room was too hot and I couldn't find a way of turning down the heating. Service was a little slow at our evening meal but that was probably because initially I failed to register my reservation when going to the bar. Room was rather too hot during the night - lack of air conditioning.price of drinks is too high (£5.25 per glass of wine).
