What people say
It is a lovely pub/hotel. Totally unpretentious. Nice clean room. Friendly staff. The best gammon steak I have had in years for dinner. And a wonderful location in a heavenly town. The river bank behind the hotel is compleely beautiful. Yes we would return. Deserves a much better rating than 6.3.
Very friendly service from Lottie who is a young woman but very professional and welcoming
Good breakfast

Fabulous English village location. Pub B&B. Lovely staff. Beautiful bridge and quiet river nearby. Very nice,.
Excellent food.
Pub atmosphere.
Central to town, riverside and Peak generally.
Satellite channels on TV.
Courtesy of landlord parking our car in the rain for us when car park
was full. Massive breakfast.
The town was quaint and lovely friendly people.
friendly staff
Excellent breakfast, good value.
Good location and very good pub grub.
Central location
Cleanliness.
Nice room excellent food.
Room was fine. Location suited what we wanted to do.
Centre of town. Solid good pub food.
Apartment was well heated.
Nice Comfy Room.
The Peacock is in a great location, the pub and garden are really well presented with a nice atmosphere.
Central location in pretty market town of Bakewell.
the room was clean.
Clean room.
Location.
The leg of the bed had it in for me. I suppose it was due to the fact that I kicked it several times walking past it with bare feet. The leg won the contest. I have a bruised toe to confirm that.
No Wi Fi connection from room in adjoining converted block.
Limited parking.
Early morning noise from adjacent Monday Market setting up.
Good, but not cheap.
Car park too small. Not clear how to use WiFi. Not easy to find
with Satnav.
Accommodation a little basic but sufficient.
Bed a little lumpy.
Being woken at 7am by the cellar delivery. Barrels etc
Also noisy refurbishment going on downstairs.
Car park is a pain - Badly blocked my street market on Mondays and when
you do get there there is no room to park. Back nut on hot tap in room
needed tightening.
Staff didn't smile or acknowledge us as residents.
We paid £109 per night for twin room, no breakfast through letsbookhotel.com. Staff told us if we had booked direct we would have paid £99 including breakfast.
The Studio Apartment only has a double bed and a sofa bed, which is unsuitable for 4 people unless you are 2 couples or a very small family. We had to ask for an extra bed which they tried charging us £20 extra per night.
Furthermore it is billed as a self-catering apartment, when the only cooking facilities include a sink and a microwave. There were only 2 cups available and no glasses. There was no WiFi or telephone. This would have been acceptable had the room not come at such a high cost.
Too few hangers
Sink in bathroom too small
Breakfast was extra and too expensive at £9.95 each.
We stayed in Room 5 and although very clean and a decent size the decor, general presentation, standard of furnishings were much more budget B&B than the website suggested, the bathroom was tiny. For £129.00 per night without breakfast we were very disappointed and would not recommend staying at the Peacock unless the price came down.
Over-priced for room only rate of £99 per night, especially as bedroom was in a ground floor outbuilding adjacent to car park and public seating area with drinkers and smokers immediately outside. Overall, a pretty average country pub.
access to room through beer garden(patio in front ) dirty plates left on tables, bad smell, loud music..check in over the bar, unfriendly and smelly, room was hot and noisy.
Parking was a nightmare, quite expensive for a basic room ,breakfast not included.
Attitude of the manager. Other staff were fine.
