Everyone very friendly and great hospitality, will recomnend to others. The friendliness and excellent attention from all of the staff. everyone was most friendly, helpfull and had time for you.nice, clean rooms and lovely breakfast. The central location. The Ayrshire and Galloway is run very efficiently and smoothly. Top class service and staff. The meals are delicious, compliments to the chef, killer portions so starve yourself for at least a day. Breakfast which is served next door in the Meridian was superb also, 10 different options. Vegetarian's are spoiled for choice. I would sincerely recommend to all and will visit again. The central location was Ideal and found both the staff and the standard of room to be very good. However we are not able to comment on the food but I would expect this to be as good as the other parts mentioned.overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in coming back.Location is brilliant, basically a minute outside the hotel. Hotel staff are really nice and helpful. Staff were excelent room comfortable Breakfast very good. friendly atmosphere from the staff; hotel was central to where i needed to be. the best breakfast we have had on our travels throughout britain. the hotel is central, clean and receptionist very welcoming. The central location of our hotel meant that we were minutes from local shops and restaurants, plus the Cinema was a penalty kick away. Our breakfast next morning was served by a pleasant young lady and the food hot and tasty. All in all FANTASTIC, As Arnie says "I'll be back" and that's definite. Central for access to town. Excellent food at a reasonable price in both the Cafe/Bar and the Bistro. Ideal location ,nice and clean rooms, very helpful staff. sky sports! relaxing place to stay. the friendly staff. in town centre. The Food. the staff are very courteous, pleasant and very helpful in all respect, the rooms are nice. staff very friendly, location excellent. The breakfast was excellent - we all had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, included in the price. Dinner at the bistro was good. Shower was very good and the towels were lovely - big and fluffy. Bar and reception staff were very helpful and friendly, food was great as well. It was good to be able to have a late breakfast. location helpfull plesant staff. Friendly Staff and location. Friendly staff. Nice decor.good location. The Hotel is central in Ayr and we enjoyed the breakfast, the staff in Bar were very friendly.Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Food was lovely. Staff really nice. Friendly, efficient, cheap and comfortable. Feeling comfortable and relaxed. Staff friendly helpful. Close to town centre. Have to say the hotel staff were excellent, very efficient, cheerful and helpful in every way, especially since they were dealing with a very busy period which included them running bar/restaurant. Whilst we were there a man who was sitting at a very busy bar collapsed with what they thought was a heart attack the staff dealt with it so efficiently. the breakfast! best breakfast I'd had out of 14 across BandBs and hotels across Scotland, admittedly travelling on a budget...central position. Bar and food-next door plus attitude of staff. The only down side was when we arrived at 3.45pm there were no parking spaces, I felt as residents that a solution should of been offered instead we were told that if blocking someone in then they would letus know so we could move our car, this wasnt appropriate as we were going out, my husband eventually got parked at a fire exit with great difficulty.Apart from this the Hotel is great. Breakfast not very good at the restuarant next door, the fry up was good but smoked haddock with poached egg a bit over microwaved,,. The fact that they ran out of food for our evening meal at the connnnected restaurant, after an exceptionally busy day!! Although this was rectified by sending us to another place in a taxi!!. as in most hotels you have thoughtless people who leave the bathroom light on all night.this leaves the extraction fan running. it would be wise to put a notice in each room saying that this practice disturbs other guests.Would of liked meals to be served into late evening. only flaw was that it states they have live entertainment in Meridian on Wednesday evenings and why we went at 10pm place was actually shutting for the evening. Having to go out of the hotel into the resturant next door for breakfast. yes, the food we had on the 3rd night of our stay was a bit of a dissapointment, the soup was cold and the main course was not up the standard of the breakfast and the previous meal we had which were excellent i thought. The bedrooms still smelled a bit of old cigarette smoke. one of the rooms did not smell very nice. Room was very warm. Poor ventilation. Needs double glazing to reduce traffic noise. Twin beds moved when you get in.Although outwith the Hotel owners control, the area at night is very noisy. The hotel would benefit from double glazing to ensure a more peaceful night. Front door locked very early. 9.45pm onwards and not always easy to find night porter to get out. Also very noisy at night with passing / stationary traffic. We had a family room and it felt a bit cramped.Probable the shortage of waiting staff in the Bistro as only one girl was coping with the Bistro and the Bar on Saturday 24th which was very busy at the time. All credit to the girl who coped very well. Suprised there was no Manager or Assistant Manager around!! All in all we were very happy. poor breakfast. Bit of a nuisance having to go out to nextdoor for breakfast. The rubber sheets on the mattress, also the hotel is not double glazed and there was a lot of noise from late night revellers as it is right in the heart of the town.although the room itself was clean, it was obvious the same attention to detail hadn't been applied to the bathroom - the water glass and bath were both grubby. fine for a shower though, which is probably why... ventilation small window noisy when open. Our room was right beside traffic lights on busy road and we had lots of noise until about 3.a.m. both nights. room window was next to bar playing too loud music noise was unbareable. Service in the dining room was very slow. Vastly over priced for very poor accomodation. The shower curtain smelt of urine. The croissants served for breakfast were mouldy and the scottish breakfast was under cooked. i.e. sausages cooked on one side only.

The head chef, Chris Allen is a young and enthusiastic chef who uses the best products to produce wonderful traditional food with flair. Guests can also enjoy Chris' cooking in the Meridian Cafe Bar, where he brings a touch of the Mediterranean to the Ayrshire coast. Renowned for its excellent 14-inch stone-baked pizzas, mouth-watering pasta dishes, delicious steaks, special dishes, meals for 2 to share, and friendly, efficient staff, the Meridian is undoubtedly the place to eat, drink and watch the world go by.
The wine list for the Badge Bistro is compact, but fine wines have been specially chosen to accompany the traditional fare. The Meridian's wine list is extensive, with wines from all over the wine-growing world specifically chosen to accompany the style of the menu.
Reserving a table in either restaurant is advised as they do become busy, especially at the weekend.
