Everything was just perfect, especially the "non-smoking throughout" policy - there was no smoke smell to put you off. Some other reviewers complained about the stairs one needs to climb to get to the hotel: from the street there is a short incline (not steep), followed by 20 steps to get to the hotel's front door. If this is a problem, one should realise that visiting Zermatt would be an even bigger problem because it involves a lot of walking and quite a bit of climbing to get around.
all reviews » This is a place to spend a vacation you can dream of! We had a spacious room, lovely decorated, with a balcony overlooking Matterhorn. I liked big bathroom with a bathtub. The breakfast was excellent, with variety of cheeses, ham, vegetables, homemade jams, etc (again, served in a lovely decorated room). A short (about 10 min) walk to the railway station. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I would never search for a different hotel if I decide to visit Zermatt again. The view from our room was excellent. Matterhorn was in plain sight and it was beautiful. Location of hotel is perfect, near the main restaurants, which are excellent and near all the lifts you can get to go exploring the mountains or skiing (when in season). Just be ready for some stairs and hopefully not too much luggage.The staff was excellent with their advice on to what to do and see. All the staff is friendly and helpfull. The garden and the hall with fireplace give you the opportunity to relax with your friends. We loved the room with balcony and an amazing view over the Matterhorn. The toilet in our room was very clean and modern, a pleasant contrast with the characteristic bedroom. The breakfast was excellent as well. We really enjoyed our stay. We booked the room with Matterhorn View. Room is super clean. Nice view of Matterhorn. It same as we saw the picture that they describe in website. We got the room with the Matterhorn view and we loved it. Just perfect though at the time we stayed, there was a construction going on outside. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The members of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Everything is fine and especially the gentlemen pick up my family at the station. And the hotel is very swiss style. I hope I could stay again in Winter time. Just about perfect in Zermatt, though the slight walk uphill from Hauptstrasse and stairs to the entrance may be difficult if you have mobility issues. We're not in superb shape and this was not a problem for us. This hotel is perfect - friendly staff (can pick you up from / drive you to the train staion), nice room with typical Alpine decoration, lots of tv channels to select, can see Matterhorn from the restaurant. Should be considered as 4 star @ value of 3 star, perfect hotel, travellers don't think just go for it, owners handle this property and they are just amazing people and great family team work. The Hotel was excellent. Clean, smart, comfortable and as described. The staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious. It was a delight to stay there. The hotel is very well decorated, clean and the staff very helpful. The location is nice for both ski equipment rental and access to the lifts. In the room at night was too warm, but other than that, nothing. During we stayed (on 17 apr 2013), there was the construction site locate beside the hotel. a huge crane was installed nearly the balcony. It disrupted you to see the perfect panoramic view of Matterhorn. I don't know when the construction is complete. There are many construction works in Zermatt in May. Very noisy and disturbance. An excellent view of the Matterhorn is currently somewhat obstructed by a construction crane. There may be construction noise as well (we visited on a weekend so it was not an issue). Inquire before booking to avoid surprises. Nothing. Steep entry to the house could be difficult for people with mobility problems - but not to us. In any case, luggage carried in and out by staff. Nothing. A construction site next door obstructed a nice Matterhorn view. Travelers with heavy luggage might find it difficult to get to the hotel but their staff are keen to help you anyway. Nothing. many step to go up hill,no elevator.anyway I willing to walk for wonderful view. Everything was excellent !. The neaby place is under construction. 10-15 min walk from station and up hill climb. Lack of water pressure at the shower. Breakfast. Lots of stairs to get to the hotel. Too far from train station and difficult to climb up the hill with large luggage.
