The family-run Alpenhof hotel is only 3 minutes' walk away from the centre of Grindelwald and the train station, and is situated right at the ski slope. In winter, it features a heated outdoor hot tub. The rooms and suites all have either a balcony or terrace, are accessible by lift, and feature free WiFi access. They all come with a HD TV, a radio, a telephone, a minibar, a coffee machine and a bathroom with hairdryer and shower or bath tub. Some rooms have panoramic views towards the Eiger Mountain. Tasty, typical Swiss cuisine with regional products is served in the Alpenhof's restaurant. The outdoor hot tub, the infrared cabin and the Finnish sauna are available free of charge. A shuttle service to and from the train station can be requested. In winter, a daily ski shuttle to and from the train station is provided. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and we definately love to recommend this family run hotel to any friends. We were lucky to have a free upgrad to room 303 (superior double room) which had an extremely beautiful, breaktaking view to the village and Eiger mountain. The room was also very well-decorated & spacious. Even though we have to walk around 5-8 mins uphill to the hotel, it was worth when we see the beautiful view around there. The staff were all very helpful, cheerful & frien.
all reviews » The central and very peaceful location in Grindelwald with wonderful views from the balcony. The layout of the room (402) could not have been better and perfectly suited our needs. Breakfast and evening meals were very well presented, and Rita was exceptional in greeting and overseeing everybody's individual requirements, including specialist dietary needs, with confidence and a professional capability in all languages. The staffs were very friendly, we chatted for quite a while. The chef there is very good! Rita (the waitress) explained the menu with patiently, and she gave good recommendation! Excellent! The bed and pillow are comfortable for us! The view is good too!. A clean,warm and welcoming family run hotel with fantastic views of the Eiger. We had a Superior Twin room which was large and roomy and had its own terrace which was ideal for our 3 day stay. Good, traditional food. Great place, next to village center. Clean, comfortable, staff very helpful. Our room view to the mountains was just fantastic! we enjoy our time in this hotel. It was my 1st stay after 15 years, as good as before. People are kind, rooms are clean and confortable with the perfect view of Eiger. Friendly reception. When we had a problem with our room, received a free upgrade. Beautiful view and comfortable beds. But it would be even better if more choices for breakfast. Trying to find the hotel was an absolute nightmare, and even further complicated following satnav guidance. (The roadworks in the centre of Grindelwald made it also slightly problematic). However, the problem of access was actually acknowledged at reception and certainly needs to be resolved by much more detailed mapping and clearer instructions. It took in excess of 1 hour from our arrival in Grindelwald to track down the hotel's location, even after requesting advice from two local residents. Everything was fine . Nothing at all. It was quite hard to climb the slope to the hotel with the heavy luggages, but the view from the hotel was excellent!. Uphill walk from train station, but it was worth it. The location, though its near the train station, but the road was steep and dark; however, it was safe. Nothing. The way to the hotel is extremely steep.I should have known that its location is on the high hill ,so i would not came up with super big luggage. But the scenery from the room is worth for :). Nothing. Facilities need update. nothing. bathroom is outdated, not very close to town, there was a bug in our room but probably there from leaving the window open.
