the view from our balcony was stunning. the room though small was really neat and kept well for the guests. there is a restaurant in the hotel, and served good food too. outside hotels there are lots of shops and restaurants, if u just want to explore grindelwald this is a perfect place, and its a value for money too. the hotel is 5mins walking from the Grindelwald train station. but make sure u arrive before 11am at night or there is no more train from interlaken to Grindelwald. the taxi will.
all reviews » We loved the location, just across from the station and central to everything. As 2 couples, we had the adjoining rooms with shared bathroom between rooms. This worked very well as each bed room had its own hand basin. Included buffet b/fast was excellent offering a good variety including scrabbled eggs, bacon and lovely fresh bread. We also enjoyed the meals in the downstairs restaurant, where the staff were very friendly. Big bonus, it has an elevator. 1/ Really lovely, spacious room with a great view of the Eiger (it was foggy for much of our visit so we didn't see it a lot, but when we did, it was a great view) 2/ Helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant 3/ Location, in one respect: it was a really short walk from the train station. Great staff, the Dutch girl who worked on reception went out of her way to help me out when, they closed the Jungfraujoch railway. She found out all the running times for the next day for me and all my train times back to Zurich to catch my flight. Good traditional food too. Great mountain view. we arrived late at night, we were sent a taxi, but had to pay more and 100chf because the hotel is far from interlaken station, upon arrival the restaurant was closed and there was literally nothing to get from the hotel (not even hot water inside the room or vending machine). fortunately, there was a bar 5mins walking from the hotel and we managed to get some food from the bar. other than that everything else was perfect. Nothing. 1/ Unfortunately, there was a huge construction project going on outside the hotel: it was a blot on the landscape and noisy from 8am on 2 or the 3 nights we stayed. It would have been good to have been pre-warned of this ahead of the visit to manage expectations (we were however offered an alternative room at the rear of the hotel but chose to stick it out as the room itself was great!). The breakfast staff could learn a lot from the evening reception staff, but only in personality and smiling more. The lift need through the restaurant go to upstairs the hotel's receiption, not convience. Two twins bed. No charge for use thier kitchen tools but need go to reception to take, and oil, salt...etc is not provided, we need buy from outside. The flys were very bad in the restaurant area. The wood frame around the bed was hard on your legs when sitting on the bed. That was minor in the scheme of things. Over all I would not change a thing. The value didn't seem to be there for the money. Don't waste your time booking the apartment, there was nothing in the kitchen of use. The room was a bit old but quiet spacious. I didn't like the smell. The restaurant downstairs wasn't famous for its table service but for its great scenic view. The apartment may uncomfortable for ones who taller than 1.7 m since the upstair bedroom's ceiling is low and poor air flow up-there. The mountain view may poorer than those far-from-station hotels. Entrance through restaurant was slightly confusing. Room carpet slightly stained. Construction going on nearby. Some rooms were very small but we only slept there and spent most of the time outside. Nothing. Nothing. We didn't have a full view of the mountains since the appartment was located in an annex behind the hotel. But at least we had a room on the top floor. The back door area that we had to walk through in order to get to the apartments in the back. Nothing. lean water flow from wash basin; location of beds in the Aptt (it was bit dangerous to climb, head collision, etc). Hotel needs to put some warnings inside the room whereevr such beds are desigend in these type of Aptts. We were told by receptionist the evening we checked in that we could have breakfast at 6.30am since we are taking the first train to Jungfrau, but the lady serving breakfast gave us a black face & told us we had to sit at the couch at reception area as breakfast tables are not open for us! About ten minutes later she asked us to sit at the tables. Very embarassing situation to have to be moved from one place to another carrying our cups & cereal bowls & baggage!. No ambiance, noisy with construction work. Construction site outside (obviously not the hotel's fault but detracted substantially from our stay). Not move out the used shampoo of the last guest, and not replenish shampoo the next day...
