A wonderful place, although a little spooky to think of four centuries of nuns walking the corridors in contemplation . . . The convent makes the long history of Cádiz both real and present. To walk the peaceful corridor and reflect on those who'd gone before is quite something. Although everything within individual rooms has been modernised, the rooms themselves are set around the quadrangle of the original convent. Because of this it remains a tranquil location, seemingly apart from the cit.
all reviews » Excellent location in the old town of Cadiz, close to all the many tapas restaurants and a short stroll to the beautiful beach. Rooms were spotless and comfortable with friendly staff. Cadiz itself is a wonderful city steeped in history and the hotel is in a great location to explore it all. Everything. Staff were excelent helping in many ways. Hotel is wonderfully placed. Best place to park for the hotel is opposite in the train station which is the cheapest daily rate we could find at €12. Hotel is beautiful. Handy for the Cadiz penisular. Stunning old building, very good location in the old town - just a 15 minute walk to the beach... Good wifi, staff were very helpful, very clean bedding. All round a very good mid range choice. We had à very nice stay in à very clean and beautiful hotel. From the hotel, everything was Nearly. The beach, THE shops, restaurant and railway. Perfect situation in town. We really loved it!. Lovely place, an old convent, nice people, wonderful atmosphere, big rooms, good beds. This is more than just a one-star-hotel. History,city life,architecture. the location,. The middle of the hotel, as it's a working very old convent. Be warned that the rooms with 'port view' also overlook the main road into old Cádiz. (This may be noisy, although I had no problems.) Charging two euros to activate the room safe is very cheeky. That, and the lack of a hair dryer in the bathroom, probably helps reduce the hotel to a 1* rating. The 'modern' breakfast room is hopelessly out of place, but saved by the possibility of eating at one of the tables in the wide corridor overlooking the quadrangle. We had a room with a view of the port which was lovely but next to a busy main road which was noisy at times. However, this is a city so it is to be expected! The rooms were a little on the small side and basic but we still found it good value for money for a city break. Not a lot. Could make the safe free of charge. It was à one star hotel and so à little bit expensive. the cleaning could be improved- found couple of hairs on the floor and shower. Everything was OK!. - noise at the street but this is the reason of near location to railway and bus station. Wi-Fi didn't work in the room. Nothing. Nothing. Finding it was initially difficult, as my GPS kept directing us down the narrow old streets. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms on account of "the walls being too thick", though oddly they weren't thick enough to stop the noise of next door's TV. No kettle in room or bar. Not so much a dislike but a suggestion. I think the lights are off in the stairwells for energy conservation. This may be a safety hazard perhaps motion detected lighting. Take an official city parking for your car. Otherwise be very careful when you park. Yellow marking is on the edge of the sidewalk : it marks where parking is prohibited. Sometimes you can hardly see it (the painting is off) - in the dark you do not see it at all. Then, in the early morning, your car is gone with the police ! It's an € 180.- all together. A major street is directly below the windows and makes it very noisy - bring earplugs!. Closeness to main road and railway station. Noise all night. Hotel more basic than write-up and tariff suggested. The drains in the bathroom smelt awful and the noise outside from the close by homes was disturbing. Drains need attention as well as extractor fans installing into the bathroom. Net too slow,no parking. room was overlooking a very busy street, lot of noise from traffic, no hair dryer in room, e3 per day to use the safe,. not recomended. The room, the general lack of anything to comment on, it was probably the most normal boring hotel I've ever stayed in.
