The reception on our arrival was friendly and helpful. Over the last four years we have stayed at several B&Bs, Hotels/Guest Houses in South Africa and the De Hoek rates as one of our best and most enjoyable places. The room was clean and comfortable, well furnished and with a superb bathroom. It had good air conditioning, tv and WiFi. Breakfasts were cooked to order, were delicious and generous and little touches of fresh herbs or roses as table decorations showed how much care went into l.

The location in downtown Stellenbosch is fantastic -- across the street from a beautiful church and just one block from dozens of cafes and restaurants. And, of course, it's convenient to tons of wineries. Breakfast was served promptly, was delicious, and included everything one could want. This is a great guest house. Wonderful old manor house conveniently located in the center of Stellenbosch with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Nicely furnished room with free and very fast WiFi. Outstanding staff who were very helpful in organising tours, shuttles and provided excellent recommendations for restaurants. There should be a warning of the steep stairs for elderly guests. Please be aware that this is not a 5 star BB as indicated on your site. The breakfast is pretty standard and I could not believe that they did not have a basic item such Decaf Coffee available. The woman who served us on the Saturday morning did not cope with the number of guests for breakfast. She works there on part time basis and is clearly not up to par. Location across road from main Church. Chruchbells struck all hours and half-hours around the clock, 24/7. Totally unacceptable; no sleep at night.
