  We liked the friendliness of the staff. We stayed the first two days and the last two days of our trip to South Africa and we were upgraded to a suite which was very much appreciated...we had stayed in the hotel five years ago and it was exactly as I remembered it and we will definitely be staying there on our return visit////breakfasts were also ... what people say » super...it should be noted that we travelled with another couple ...mc gettigans...and this review is for all of us - The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful, always smiling, and solicitous without being in your face. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of choices and value for money; use of the business centre at no extra cost was a godsend - see wi-fi The entrance/lobby very spacious and felt homely. I would definitely stay at the Portswood again

  We stayed for 6 nights in 'deluxe one-bedroom suite with living area'. The hotel location is at the centre of the city, European design hotel and very comfortable and clean. We had a spacious one bedroom with dining-living room area and kitchen facilities (microwave,oven, washer-dryer); and very nice two-sides view. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful from the doormen to the concierge to the drivers. The 1800 restaurant had delicious food for dinner.   The location was great, close enough to all the activity but not so close that you are woken up or disturbed. The room was clean and the majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Cape Town itself was incredible! If you like live music, go to the Dubliner on Long Street, Mama Africa has amazing - Clean, comfortable, well kitted out rooms in a great area of Cape Town.
