Stunning room, with a giant fan on the ceiling that works a charm on muggy days. We were pleasantly surprised that they have a honesty bar in room , not often that you find one anymore and it's a great touch. King size bed very comfortable and adored the outside bathroom. Good quality products to use and fresh clean towels and face cloths. Staff very friendly and make a good first impression. Location excellent for walk to nearby restaurants and shopping centre. On site secure parking added bon.
all reviews » It's a beautiful, comfortable and relaxed environment with a lovely layout. The staff is just wonderful and parking is on the premises and safe. Breakfast is super and you can have it inside or outside in the morning sun. Melville restaurants are on your doorstep. This is a place to stay at when in Joburg. The staff, especially Virginia, went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We had a problem with our travel plans and without their help, we would not have enjoyed our holidays in South Africa. Thank you!. Very nice room (clean and well equiped), excellent location (walking distance from good pubs and restaurants), very good breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff. It was great, nice breakfast, fantastic staff, superb rooms and ideally located. I would definately go there again and Melville is really great. Great room decor and very clean. Good restaurants nearby. Recommend for a short layover in Joburg. Great tour of Soweto offered by the driver. The Urban-chic well planned décor of the motel. Great bedroom & facilities. It is elegant and tranquil. Crisp, comfy, and cosy. Staff very friendly , decor inside rooms great , the courtyard room has a nice size room with a very modern feel . Breakfast was very well presented . There was unfortunately a power outage and we couldn't enjoy a much wanted cuppa or have juice or hot breakfast. Had to settle for cold croissant with cheese and water. Honestly spoiled the day as I would think that a plan could be made to have a gas cooker which is more energy efficient and which would ensure that guests start their day off well. Disappointed that no back up plans were in place especially since outages are not uncommon. Hence my fair score for facilities. If you don't have a car, you will need to take a taxi to get around to sights. Parking is a bit tricky if you have a big car, but not insurmountable. The tour they arranged for us to Maropeng had a seedy tour guide named Pierre. Don't go anywhere with him and you'll be fine. Small tables in the room .I would prefer a bigger desk to work on. nothing. Far from the great spots of Joburg. Reception was not great , was greeted by a locked gate on arrival , no working door bell , high wall with no real street signage , felt rather unsafe as location not great . Reception could be improved as guests on arrival have no idea what the check in procedure is .

From OR Tambo International Airport: -Take the R24 towards Johannesburg and continue past the Barbara Road and Edenvale Road turn-offs. -Approximately 9.5 km from the airport take the N3 to Johannesburg, Durban and Kimberley and continue past the Van Buuren Road turn-off. -Take the M2 west to Johannesburg and Germiston. -Travel for about 10 km passing the Cleveland, Denver, Ruven Road, Rissik Street, and Selby off-ramps. -Take the M1 North to Sandton and Pretoria and proceed past the Carr Street and Smit Street off-ramps. -Take the Empire Road turn-off and turn left at the bottom, travelling west. -Stay in the centre lane and at the traffic lights at the T-junction turn right onto Kingsway. -Continue past Media Park on the right and turn right onto Lothbury Road at the following traffic light with signs for Melville. -Continue along Lothbury Road until it becomes Seventh Street. At the only traffic light, turn left onto Fourth Avenue and proceed to No. 35.
