Larger room than normal for Europe. Kitchenette that was great becausefood is so expensive. We actually cooked a meal one night. Refrigeratorwas so nice to have in the room. Location of Hotel was excellent, rightby Grote Market. Just a 10 minute walk to the train/bus station. We were very happy with our stay at the hotel. The staff at the front desk were very kind, and we appreciated the free internet in the hotel lobby. The location was good, and it was close to the main sights in Haarlem. I would definitely stay there again.all reviews »
The hotel was an easy walk from the train station. It was easy to travel to Keukenhof to see the tulips in bloom. There is less hustle and bustle in Haarlem than Amsterdam. All the facilities including bar and restaurant especially. location was excellent; one of the few hotels where three travelling together could stay in one room. location in the center of the old city. On arrival the staff member at front desk was very helpful. in centre of city - large room. The room was excellent. nice atmosphere at main hotel, friendly staff, central location, good bar. would go back again. Friendly staff. very quit in the weekend, elevator, balcony.The room that i get is very spacious. A good bathroom and shower. very centrally located. Large bright room. The town is very interesting.I think access to the bedrooms would be preferable through main lobby. Entry is in ambassador Hotel - Entry of Joops Hotel is only door, no facilities there.Reception is at another hotel along with other amenities, ie breakfast. With bad weather you have to dress accordingly just to get breakfast. not easy to get to by car unless you know your way around Haarlem as pedestrial area. Extremely noisy at night due to central location. No telephone in the room, no draws to put clothes, instructions for safemissing. Closer to 2* than 3* Breakfast was poor. no wifi internet available, no privacy at available pc in lobby, door slaming shut very loud, no ac.Quite far from the train station, about 15 to 20 mins walking to Harleem Station. Lumpy beds and on a noisy road. Cleaning could be better for cost more is expected. When we booked we were offered another room for a lower rate, which we accepted by email. However, when we arrived there was no knowledge of this..Also, despite booking a cot and confimring by email and on arrival, there were no sheets or any bedding supplied for the cot, on the last night no towels for the baby.Only 2 towels for all three of us. The room was not ready when we arrived. It was 3 PM (15h). And we had to wait for about one more hour before we could get into the room... So they (or you) were almost four hours late. They (or you) did not offer anything to us for this.
. the ceilings were dirty, the rooms has a moist smell. they also took 300Euros from my credit card without prior authorisation, then tried to charge me the incorrect amount and argued that they had not made a mistake. I would not recommend this hotel if you are wanting a stress free stay.

Information about the area
Joops Hotel is situated in the pedestrian zone of the historic centre of Haarlem. The city of Haarlem is known for its historical façades and courtyards. The Frans Hals Museum, the Corry ten Boom Musuem and the Teylers Museum (the oldest museum in the country) are all at a stone’s throw from the hotel.
If shopping is your thing, Haarlem is also a great destination. Haarlem has often been voted as the best shopping city in the Netherlands and you will be able to spend as much or as little as you like in all the different shops and antique shops. The shops are a good combination with a nice lunch or drink on one of the terraces.
Haarlem is also the perfect starting location for many different excursions: Amsterdam (where you can shop even on Sundays), the beaches of Bloemendaal, Zandvoort (beaches, circuit, casino), the flowers of the Keukenhof in Lisse (opened from March until May) and National Park De Kennemerduinen where you can hike and bike (bike rental in the close vicinity of the hotel).

From Schiphol Airport:
- A taxi from the airport takes around 20 minutes.
- Or, take bus number 300 to Haarlem station, which leaves every 15 minutes from the airport.
By Car:
- Take the A9 motorway (from Amsterdam to Alkmaar).
- Exit for Haarlem (N200 Rottepolderplein) at the roundabout and follow signs for Haarlem.
- On entering Haarlem you will see a small city tower. At the traffic lights turn right and at the next traffic lights left.
- Continue, cross a bridge and turn left.
- Drive along the river until you find De Appelaar car park (after about a kilometre) on Spaarnestraat.
From Haarlem station:
- Walk towards the big church, straight through the Kruisweg or the Jansweg. The hotel is behind the church.
