It's a very charming property with lots of character and the accommodations were excellent, the staff very thoughtful and helpful. Two thumbs up!. Friendly owner and staff. Beautiful situation. Lovely pool.relaxing, quiet and fridge was well stocked. Great bathrooms. Pool area looked nice--we had rainy weather, so couldn't use that and everything felt gloomy.If You travel without car it is not easy to come to, but it is worth it. 10 euro for 3 hours of wi-fi internet.When we got there, no one was there for check in. We did not have a mobile phone so it was difficult for us to get a hold of anyone. Noisy peacocks. 1. I thought the hotel was in the countryside--it is in a strange location, and I wasn't happy about that. The location info is misleading. Also we had a hard time finding it, even with 2 different sets of directions. 2.There is no staff on site. At one point we thought we had locked our key in the room and were panicking because we didn't know what to do. Luckily we found it in the car. Difficult to be found by navigation system, difficult to get hold of receptionist, no staff available - off season?.

From the North or South of Siena:
- Take the Aquacalda exit from the Siena ring road (Tangenziale).
- At the roundabout, take the first exit along a tree lined road (Via R.Da Capua) which leads in an upwards direction.
- At the end of this road, at the stop sign signalling the junction with Via Dante, turn right and proceed along via Dante as far as the junction with Via Petriccio e Belriguardo. - Here, at the point in which you find the sign indicating ‘Montalbuccio’ and ‘Castello di Belcaro’, turn right.
- After a few metres you will cross an old bridge (here cars must transit one at a time), and continue downhill, passing under a flyover.
- 150 metres up the hill, you will come across the sign for the Pettirosso, in the vicinity of 2 old cypress trees: a further 100 metres and you arrive at the Pettirosso.
