The hotel is situated in the middle of the village, 5 min walk from the beach, in an oasis of trees, flowers and a small vegetable garden which supplies the Michelin star restaurant. Staff is very friendly and service minded. The restaurant is great! Breakfast at the terrace overlooking the garden and sea below. The quality of staff and hotel were the best we experienced in Italy. The rooms are very spacious, nicely decorated and quiet. Whilst it does not have elevated views overlooking Positano, it makes up for it with lovely gardens and views up the hillside. Would recommend to stay here without hesitation.

Hotel information details

Gioacchino Murat, brother-in-law of Napoleone Bonaparte, fell in love with Positano when he was king of Naples in the early 1800s. He was also charmed by an old palace, currently Palazzo Murat, and decided to make it into his summer home.

Palazzo Murat has succeeded in enchanting other famous figures including John Steinbeck, Giovanni Zagoruiko, Escher, Carla Fracci and Rudolph Nurejev.
