Hotel Bougainville was a fabulous ending to a 2 week stay in Italy. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were bright, spacious and clean. Location was great, not too far from the beach. Would defintetly stay here again!!. Marella, Simon and Luigi were so helpful - always went out of their way to help you. Excellent staff, splendid surroundings, super tastefull decoration,outstanding service!. The location was great and with a parking just across the street for 20 euro a day. The staff was incredibly helpful. Wow!. Location, helpfulness of staff, cleanliness. Maria at the reception was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Hotel's location is great!. Simon the host was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located and handy to the beach, shops and restaurants. clean and cool and easy access. Only the location. The stairs for reaching the entrance!!! ;-). The room was okay, not great... But the staff totally made up for it. Iwould highly recommend the hotel. The sky blue bedroom! Breakfast was disappointing especially as we were staying 6 nights. No meat, cheese or fruit offered.coffee not hot either morning. The paint was of the walls, rooms were very small en bathroom also. Thebreakfast was very poor, no eggs, only sweet things.

Positano is a small town on the Amalfi Coast, in Campania. The main part of the city sits in an enclave in the hills leading down to the coast.
Positano was a prosperous port of the Amalfi Republic in the 16th and 17th centuries. But by the mid-19th century, the town had fallen on hard times. More than half the population emigrated, mostly to the United States of America.
Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the 20th century. It began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper's Bazaar in May, 1953: "Positano bites deep", Steinbeck wrote. "It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone".
