The wonderful location in the heart of this atmospheric mediaeval city. Our room had a 'Romeo and Juliet' balcony, overlooking the intricately cobbled street, 2 minutes from the main piazza. There is a delightfull little courtyard for leisurely breakfasts or a quiet drink. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming - and so kind and helpful when we had to deal with a family problem back home. Hoping to go back again!.
all reviews » This hotel is beautiful, well appointed, quiet, comfortable with a helpful staff. Our room was large and well-equipped. Walk out the door and in 3 minutes you are in the heart of Erice, enjoying the shops and the restaurants and history. Miles and miles of high view in the same block. Terrific breakfast and overall a great value. We would go back. Rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and had thought-out details such as already having produced a map with recommended restaurants, including those that serve authentic Sicilian pizza. Best hot chocolate I've found in Italy, and my parents said the coffee was excellent. The location in the centre of Erice was great. I enjoyed meeting Nonno and the children and it was a nice, friendly family experience. We were helped with our bags and our needs were taken care of quickly. We especially enjoyed being able to have our cappuccini on the terrasse. This is a very charming small hotel. The house belonged to the owner's grandfather. It is very old, beautifully remodeled and decorated. It is conveniently located. Staff friendly and helpful with limited English. Very interesting and unusual Sicilian breakfast. Erice is a magic, especially in the morning when no-one is in the streets, and you wondering in the narrow , coble stone streets. We had difficulty getting to the place. Location of hotel was great and I'm sure some folks had lovely rooms. Ours was small, the frigobar was broken and the view was of the building across the street. This hotel is in the heart of town, and it's a small town, but we recommend you park in the ample public parking near the castle or other fringe area then walk to the hotel (less than 5 minutes), check-in, then get explicit instructions to drive to the hotel to get your bags dropped off and parked appropriately. The streets are narrow but well paved and if it's your first visit, take the above advice. We enjoyed Erice. It was lovely, but alas, very cold and windy, would recommend bringing a windproof jacket and scarf at the minimum. Would avoid Venus restaurant: pizza's bottom was burnt yet soggy, and they added a cover charge of 10 euros to a bill of 30 euros: that's a 30% "tip"!. The room was a bit cramped. You had to be careful going around the bed as there was a sharp corner I always seemed to bang into. There was not much variety for breakfast and the same cake that was there on our first day appeared on our third day. Wi fi didn't work. Room very compact so if overloaded with luggage like us was a bit tricky, however this is style within this town Very little english spoken which can be challenging but also fun!. No dislikes, it was perfect!. It's really hard to find, especially if you are driving. But the staff came and led us to the hotel and helped with parking. in the information desk should be someone who speak english to assist you. Better directions to the hotel and GPS that works to get you there. The TV was not very reliable, but that might not be the fault of the hotel. Erice is difficult for cars, but we managed. Breakfast is comparatively simple. Getting there with a car is a major challenge. Gps does not help if you are driving a good sized car. Staff were very helpful with the parking once we figured out what was going on. We would have preferred to know how difficult driving to the hotel would be (extremely narrow medieval streets - almost too narrow for one of the 2 cars we had) so that we could just bring the bags after parking the car outside of the medieval center. Honestly, these were the most narrow roads I have seen anywhere in Europe, and we almost didn't make it around a couple of turns. Terribly hard to access because of the narrow streets. lack of parking close by. Noise from the minibar frig. The breakfast was fine, but nothing special in a land of very special food. Responsiveness to needs was not up to par. When we explained about fridge being broken we were told that it was just something with the power. Almost no English spoken and usually I don't mind, but we had lots to talk about and didn't feel like anyone cared that much. Breakfast breads were very stale and not much was fresh. Loved the town but I'd look around for a better value than this - it was more like a 75.00 a night B&B than a 'hotel'.
