Although the front of the hotel is uninspiring it turned out to be comfortable, clean and good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. Of partuicular note was the excellent meal available in the surprisingly popular and fancy restaurant within the hotel itself. The weather did not allow us to take advantage of the garden area but it seemed like it would make a great setting for a drink and meal.
all reviews » The Hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable and we had supper in the restaurant which was very good and not too expensive. They have a lovely garden to eat in and it is just a short walk to Lake Como.The service in the Restaurant was a bit slow but they were very busy and all the staff were very helpful. We would definately stay here again. The staff were very very friendly & helpful and seemed genuinely so. Although we did not (unfortuantely) eat in the hotel restaurent it looked very nice and attracted a lot of locals. There is a very nice terrace area at the back of the hotel. - Located on a quiet street 4 min walk from Villa d'Este - 4 min walk from the lake - nice staff - Very peaceful and nice garden and lounge area - Good food - Very commercial staff (small compensation for a little inconvenience that happened). Pretty much everything. Could not work out why only two star. Baffling. Huge comfortable bed. Clean bathroom . Great Bkfast . Lovely orange / lemon croissants. Brilliant restaurant where locals eat. Location staff friendliness and availability our room was nice, comfortable and had a wonderful terrace air conditioning and minibar restaurant of excellent quality parking facility. There is easy, cheap parking nearby so you do not have to pay the hotel parking charge. Also a room at the front of the hotel has a lot of street and traffic noise so if you do not like that (part of italy's charm?) then best seek a room at the back. There is no lift so if you struggle with stairs ask for a room on the first floor. The breakfast was adequate with cereal croissants cold ham and bread but there was no fruit or cheese so there was very little choice for vegetarians. - Room connected to another room to form a potential apartment for a family for instance. Hence, we could hear our loud neighbours. Better to ask for a room with no connection to other rooms. Having to leave!!!. nothing, everything was perfect. The breakfast was awful. They should not bother. There is a cafe across the road and the hotel should just do a deal with them. Also, it was quite noisy first thing in the morning (6am!). Shower sometimes ran cold. Shower far too small and water gushed out - gasping for breath! Breakfast room very dark and dingy but eventually we were allowed to eat ourside. First room very disappointing - dark and in need of update. Offered second room an improvement, clean and modern but in annex by garage. Some of the staff a little offhand. Rooms very basic. Shower was very small and the airconditioner had a water bottle on the floor in the bedroom. No lift so large bags were not that easy to negociate up narrow stair way. Breakfast very basic.
