    We were greeted by the owners father on arrival, who filled us in on all the necessary information of the local village Hillsborough and how to get to Belfast. We then met David the owner, very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are beautifully furnished and there is a real home atmosphere, like your one of the family.     Bedroom facilities. Ensuite very clean. Beds comfy, good airing (been in hotels where couldn't open window so it was lovely to be able to do so).Wifi.     The hotel is an old coaching inn with a lot of character. We were made to feel very welcome. The room that we had was very large and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent.We can recommend the fruit pancakes.The hotel is a 30 minute drive from Belfast and there is easy access to the surrounding countryside.     I loved the facilities, pool sauna gym etc. We booked an evening meal in the resturant were the food and service was of the highest standard.     We were overwhelmed by the beauty of Astala Lodge along with the location. We stayed four nights and we're lucky to be given one of four front rooms overlooking Bangor Marina (room 11). We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and this feeling continued during our stay. It felt like we were staying with family, each morning s - Astala Guest House is clearly recently renovated. Everything is new. And everything is spotlessly clean. The view of the waterfront was quite nice (I saw a wonderful sunrise). Breakfast was quite good. The WiFi worked well. The staff was friendly and accommodated our late arrival without fuss (naturally we had the presence of mind to call and inform them we were arriving late). Parked right in front.
