We loved everything about Hotel Amphora - the location, the view, the building itself has such character! All was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful...Agostinos (spelling?) always made sure us girls were ok and that we had everything we needed! I would definitely recommend the hotel and would gladly stay at Hotel Amphora again should I ever return to Chania! Thank you Hotel Amphora for exceeding our expectations and helping to make our visit to Chania all that much more enjoyable!.
all reviews » It was my third stay at the Amphora and I have enjoyed it as much as the others. The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area and will advise on itineraries or book excursions for you. The hotel is in a renovated Venetian style mansion, beautifully situated on Chania harbour with a spectacular view from the terrasse. All facilities are provided for what I think is very good value. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Chania (and there is a lot on offer!). This hotel has a wonderful location on the waterfront and you are in the picturesque old town, wonderful for strolling, shopping and eating. The hotel staff are kindness itself and really made our holiday by suggesting ideas for trips we would never have though of on our own. The hotel itself is full of character as its Venetian origin and the marvellous views from its terrace . The breakfast is simply amazing with 100% fresh orange juice and I The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming This is our second visit in two years!. We loved the Hotel Amphora. It's in an amazing location and is full of atmosphere. The staff couldn't be nicer and the hotel is renovated in the most tasteful, understated way, that respects the history of the building. Really, a very special hotel!. The wonderful views of the old harbour and the most helpful and friendly staff especially in Augustin (General House Keeper) and lovely Anita (Cafe and Breakfast host) who made our stay so comfortable and memorable. Highly recommended. Very friendly and helpfull staff. They warned us that our room would have some noise due to the bar nearby.We kept the room anyway and have to admit that it was noisy. But it had a great view on the harbor. The food and service at the Amphora Restaurant was excellent. The staff was professional, friendly, accommodating and the menu is traditional. No complaints at all!. There is nothing to dislike. Minor quibbles that we noticed on day one then never thought about again were a shortage of storage for two people's clothes and no ability to make a hot drink for yourself in the room. But these are spots on the sun. My only complaint - and it's one the hotel couldn't do anything about - was the noise at night. I was in the front room overlooking the harbour, so I had an incredible view and the room was beautiful. But bring earrplugs as the sound of the bars travels up. My friend stayed at the back of the hotel in a smaller room but totally quiet. nothing adverse to say. Too much noise from a nearby bar. The noise from the nightclub next to the hotel made sleeping with the windows open impossible. The bass beat of the sub woofers made a peaceful sleep all but impossible. A different room selection would remedy this problem. The staff did disclose this to us at check in. Wednesday businesses close at noon and people go out to party. It is like a weekend night. Next door to bar with music open until 4am and much noisy drunken behavour in harbour area at that time in the morning. Not much I didn't like .... uh.....beautiful old harbor completely mobbed in high season. Not applicable. The isolation of the room is not good enough, we could hear clearly what the neighbour are talking. Bathroom fairly small and basic - but this isn't a 'grand hotel' it's a hotel with real character so I can easily forget this point!. rather small shower room. nothing. Nothing to dislike. Having to leave!!!. room 9 was a little small and inapprorpiate armchairs, the upper part bedroom was very hot and not cooled by the a/c. Noise coming through common structures from disco that operated 1am to 7am!!!!! I was advised at check-in that my room could be noisy - but not to the actual, sleep-depriving extent. Noisy room above. there is a bar under the room that we had (room number 6) and the very loud music went on until 5 in the morning also the people walking in the room above were causing a lot of noise the WIFI was only working for 5 minutes.
