Location in old town was great but getting to it a challenge even with gps coordinates from letsbookhotel.com. Streets narrow and kerbs unforgiving! Parking station nearby but one-way streets a challenge. Owners great and their progressive upgrades exciting. We had a few car dramas and owner very helpful. An elevator a wonderful thing in such an old building. The hotel is in the historic centre of Nimes, most of which is a pedestrian area, within easy walking distance of all the Roman buildings to be seen there. The city itself is worth a visit for its refurbished buildings and many boutiques. The hotel itself is in a 17th century building of great architectural value, but comfortably renovated.

The courtyard where we had breakfast was a bonus and the architecture of the place was outstanding. Breakfast staff particularly helpful and attentive to your needs. "Secure" public parking 2 minutes walk away at €8 per day. Well positioned for the majority of sites to see. Good location. It was air-conditioned which is a plus in a hot city like Nîmes, but the air conditioner was so covered by curtains that you had to expose yourself to light and the neighbors to get the most good out of it. I still do not know whether this was a mistake, being unwilling to challenge the discrepancy at the time!. Some difficulty getting to the place and then there was no where to stop and unload luggage and find out where to park. These details should be provided in advance. Nothing in particular. The bathrooms can be renovated. The young lads in the street outside were noisy sometimes at night. The breakfast is overpriced at $14 per person. You have to look beyond the street it is located in. One street further on and it is a lovely area. The internet did not work at all ! It is a stone building. Please make sure it is changed. It was called the Hotel Marquis de la Baume. It should be New Hotel de la Baume. We hunted for the hotel for hours. The street frontage is not attractive and therefore first impressions are not as good. However, once through the front door it is a beautiful building. Also. the name of the hotel has changed which made it difficult to find. No internet in the rooms!! This is 2013 essential in all hotels!! No English TV channels on TV Rooms with bath & sink in the bedroom - Lack of privacy. No parking facilities, but you can't expect that in a down-town Hotel. bathroom was outdated-no shower, and the tub was falling apart. Cracks in various places. Also-mini fridge prices were way too high. The wifi could be easier to log onto. Didn't seem to work on iPad? Or multiple devices. Scary streets. the bathroom was not repaired for ages. Despite saying in the description that it has wi-fi in public areas, in the 2 nights we were there, we could not get connected at all. The hotel has one computer for guest's use but it makes you sign on everytime you go to the next page. Stayed the day of a bullfight in town , rares were three times the normal rate. That is ridiculous and made the hotel a poor value. Expensive compared to other places we stayed on this trip to France. Room could do with a makeover, dirty carpet, no extract fan in toilet, paint coming off the walls in the bathroom and €14 for breakfast....... I would not recommend. Better places out there. Very difficult to find. Then when I finally arrived, no one at the front desk spoke English. Room had a view of what I can only describe as the slums. The entire neighborhood was dirty, bums hanging all around the area. No screens on the windows and the air conditioner did not work. Therefore bugs flew in at night. Wifi range was very poor. No parking, need to use public car park. Toilet did not have washbasin. Had to walk around the bed to go from the bathroom to toilet. Bathroom and toilet poor quality, fittings and fixtures hardly 4 star. Hotel is barely 3 star. It is on a noisy street with motorcycles racing down the street untill 1& 2 am. People are fighting right outside your window. This is the worst hotel I have booked on letsbookhotel.com. It was not good value for the cost. Wifi only available in lobby and not reliable.
