Location is really excellent! Between the rivers, just in the heart of the city. There was amazing view from my single room - Theatre des Celestins and the garden with flowers trees. The room size is quite good. The breakfast is simple, but traditional for France - baguette, croissant and jams. I was taken ill and lady from the reception gave me a cup of tea and called a doctor. Location was terrific. Easy to walk to all the major tourist spots and shops. Several streets with lots of restaurants very near on both sides of the river. Staff very helpful. Great view of theatre - floodlit at night - from our room which was huge with traditional furnishings. We took breakfast which was handy and relaxing start to day and we thought good value.

The hotel is in an ideal location to explore both the new and old towns of Lyon, which is beautiful. Recommended. The hotel is in a great location! We had a room looking over the square in front of the theatre which was lovely. It was easy to walk to all the sights, (the end of the street is on the Saóne river bank.) Of course we didn't like climbing the stairs to reception and a further two flights to our room but we knew that when we booked but no doubt this is what made the price attractive. No fault of the hotel, but the entrance is in a street that looks grubby and smelly. The parking under the Theatre square was very expensive. Perhaps the hotel could try to organise a discount for guests, like similar hotels we stayed at in Bordeaux and Geneva. It was a bit noisy on weekend nights due to the theater and restaurants, but if you are a late night person no problem. There was rubbish (empty packet of sweets) from a prior guest under the bed. There was a bath tub with flexi-hose however no splash glass or wall hook to hand the nossle. Showering therefore was somewhat awkward. Breakfast was disappointing. The bread and the croissants were not very fresh and the range on offer was limited. No lift. Very, very hot in room; no air conditioner and was 35 Celsius out. Stairs will be challenging for some travellers. The surroundings of the rear (and main) entrance in the small street behind the "place du théâtre": A bit dark and dirty. No lift so had to haul luggage up 40 steps to reach reception, and a further 45 to my floor. However, I knew this before I booked. Stairs (no elevator). No wall mounted shower and no shower curtain.
