We visited Epernay in mid-August and it was a complete ghost town when we arrived at 18:00 from Paris. Took a walk down Champagne avenue, which was nice but everything shut. Only 1 restaurant was open in the town centre and it contained all the lost tourists looking for somewhere to have dinner.The hotel room was large and the facilities basic but clean. Premises were secure with a code for getting in after hours. Wi-Fi sucked - did not work at all! The hotel itself offered meals etc but we did.
all reviews » Well located, good big room, and helpful friendly staff. Close to many champagne outlets. Warm and clean. No lift but staff kindly changed our room to the first floor and carried our luggage upstairs. Unfortunately there had been a small fire in the kitchen just before we arrived and so we could not eat at the hotel. However there were several good ones very close by. Our bedroom - small but comfortable, the bathroom and shower excellent, the breakfast - on time and very good. There was an outdoor café area on the square with prompt service and the draft beer was great, too!. This place was SUPER cute. Rooms were perfectly adorable! Great bathroom, take credit cards, cute bar/café downstairs, good size room, great location, friendly people, internet in rooms, clean, A/C. One of are guests sadly became ill on our trip. The hotel staff allowed this guest to stay in his room until 18:00 which was when we were catching our train. There was no additional charge. Good location for shops, restaurants and Moët and Chandon cellars. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, dog-friendly which was essential as we were travelling with our pooch!. The owners were helpful/understanding with our late arrival and parking issues. Easy walking distance to most Epernay sites - and good location for touring Champagne region. No luggage room & kind of noisy at night from patrons at the bar, but not unbearable. It's a simple hotel and has limited staff, therefore no staff are there in the evenings or on Sundays. We arrived on a Sunday and although we gained access ok we were a little confused with the setup. This was a small issue and wasn't really a problem, we just wasn't prepared after a long drive. No parking available at the hotel so had to find suitable on street parking where we could leave the car overnight. Made it a bi awkward to carry things from car to hotel. no handwash/soap in the bathroom. Breakfast a bit basic. Hotel hard to find. Epernay slighly busy,pretty in parts. Nothing. No parking and the local car park cost 70 euros for two nights. Can't think of anything. The room was a little sparse. Somewhere to raise bags off the floor, rather than a desk. No parking was a bit of a inconvenience as it is located down a narrow city street. Could hear into other guest rooms, walls and ceilings very thin. There was a lack of hospitality, or general reception but as we were exploring the area ourselves, this was not a major problem. Not an ideal location if you have a dog, as I did, but I needed to be in the centre of town. An extra couple of pillows would have been great. Wifi very poor in room. It is perfectly adequate but slightly basic decor although all facilities worked well. Breakfast was good. Aircon was not working. Very noisey. Bed 1 and 2 fron the street. We were in Bed 2 and smokers congregated outside the entrance which was exactly below our room. We could not have a window open as Smoke came into the room. Also, there were noisey drinkers from the hotel in the street until very early hours. Dont bank on getting much sleep!. Kitchenette had nothing except a pot lid, no pot, a kettle no cups, glasses, cutlery or crockery only a glass platter, rendering it useless. Bed wasn't the most comfortable on one side it felt as though you would slide off. Wi fi does not work in the room. Shower over bath has so shower curtain and no holder for shower head so you have to hose yourself down and try not to get water everywhere. No air con, kitchenette but no utilities! Crazy shower. Water went everywhere. No drainage on floor. Room very hot. Hopeless fan. Double bed was a king single!. I didn't like that there was a fire at 7:30 in the morning which caused us to evacuate and our room to reek of smoke and burned plastic. There was only one way out and it was right past the fire. We decided to leave after the fire and were still charged for the following night. No air con - despite it saying so on booking. Not fun in 35 degrees when your husband has heart failure. Slow to help on arrival. Bad place, uncomfortable room, bad interiors, very humble. Room was very cheap & basic and incredibly noisy, particularly over the weekend. Expensive basic breakfast.
