Cherbourg is a quaint historic town. The hotel is on the waterfront with a scenic view. We were able to walk to the hotel from the ferry dock. The staff were very friendly and we stayed in an apartment suite with a kitchen and 3 bedrooms upstairs. Bathroom newly renovated and beautiful. Breakfast area located in a sun room so it is very relaxing. Breakfast costs extra but it well worth the price. Hotel is conveniently located close to main street where all the restaurants are within walki.
all reviews » This was our second stay at the Hotel Chantereyne and once again we couldn't fault it. The staff are helpful and welcoming and have good knowledge of the area. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spotless. We loved the modern bathroom and the superb shower. Also great location, just 5 minutes from the ferry port and the town. All in all a first class hotel. We have stayed in Hotel Chantereyne on a number of occasions over the years & have always been very pleased with it. The location is perfect for our needs & the staff have always been excellent. This year ERWAN could not do enough for us. He is a first class ambassador for the hotel. Hotel Chantereyne is an excellent base for an overnight stop at the ferry port on the way to or from holiday. We had a family room on the ground floor which was very convenient. The room for 3 was perfect for us for our overnight in Cherbourg very warm and cosy. The male receptionist was most helpful in booking a restaurant and also a taxi for us. Bedside table but no shelf for books, etc. No hooks to hang clothes on in the bathroom and no soapdish or anywhere to put your shampoo. No lift. Would have liked a second easy chair in the room. One of us had to sit on a hard chair. Not so easy to relax then. The breakfast on offer could have provided more and been more imaginative. Not much - the bathroom had a bath with a shower attachment but not fixed to the wall and no shower panel / curtain - so a proper shower without spraying the floor was difficult!. All very good & a good breakfast Staff. Breakfast over priced for such a small amount of food. Nothing really. Just a pity there aren't any english speaking channels on the tv. It Rained. Nothing I can think off. Bar prices priced as 5 star hotel not 3 star, never see I my live 3 star hotel bar prices so high. Some of the furnishings becoming a little shabby. No clocks in the room. No washcloth. Poor quality toiletries. That we had only booked one night. nothing. there is not lift. with the luggage,it's hard!. Breakfast vastly over-priced - over 8 euro each for a few bits. Only a bath and no real shower facility. Poor breakfast, rooms in need of upgrade, furniture poorly presented. Room was stuffy, basic and noisy. Air conditioning, although fitted was ineffective. A bit run down for a 3 star. Price has jumped from about 60 E to 85E over the last 18 months and is high in comparison to others in the town.
