  Very accommodating and welcoming staff. Good family accommodation with connecting rooms on demand. Not always easy to find hotels which will accept dogs so this was another good feature. Facilties and rooms were very clean.   Room was compact but there was everything we needed. Nice to find a bath/shower. Hairdryer in bathroom. Kettle, tea, coffee, milk and even biscuits. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant which did not give the impression of "budget". Also nice sitting area at the front of the hotel. Short walking distance for local hypermarket and restaurants (very good chinese buffet recommended by the receptionist). Mi - I was going to arrive late, and I was called with the gate security details and the room number. I arrived 15 minutes before lockup, and everything was set for me to stay. I needed to leave very early the next morning and again everything was smooth. I've used this hotel before as a place to stay after a long journey before catching a eurostar, and it's very convenient and used to travellers arriving late and leaving early.   This hotel is the former George V hotel and is undergoing total renovation so it is a bit difficult to give a full opinion. Work was still going on in the corridors but our room (in the Superior Class) was very spacious and extremely well appointed except there was no mirror in the bedroom. Lovely towels and toiletries and extremely comfortable... what people say » bed. - The hotel was very clean and was recently redecorated. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The city of Calais was a nice place to launch our vacation and the Mercure was a pleasant surprise. The room had a very comfortable queen bed and the fold out couch was very comfortable for our son.

  This is a very clean, very well designed and spacious apartment in a quiet street right in the centre of Calais and close to amenities (supermarkets, bakeries). Easily accessible from Eurotunnel, ferry and motorway. Ideal for a stop-over or as a base for exploring the cote d'opale.
