What people say
The situation where the hotel is is really great so close to the sea and it has a carparking also behind the hotel for a few cars. My father and I we had two rooms with oceanview, wonderful! The rooms where big, cleaning good each day and if you ask then it has rooms on the first or second floor like we had. The restaurant is very nice, special the veranda also with oceanview and the breakfast was really good with fresh frenchbread, fine cheese and jam, fruits and cereal too also if you want to. all reviews »
Very good hotel at an excellent location by a water front with an interesing history behind (one of D-Day landing beaches). Very good restaurant serving great sea food (especially fresh oysters and lobsters). The hotel building is charming, old-fashioned but rooms have everything one needs. Good price/quality ratio.
I had a family room with one double bed and two twin, great value and great sea view. This hotel witnessed the war if you like history you must love to stay in this hotel. For a historical building we can't expect any fancy facilities as big hotel can offers. Great food in restaurant.
Right next to the beach. 30 meters away from the D-day museum. The hotel has small parking, but in front of the hotel is the D-day museum parking available free of charge from 19.00 to 09.00 from 09.00 to 19.00 they charge 1.50 Euro per hour. Clean rooms. A restaurant downstairs.
Excellent location right on the front with great views of the beach and Mulberry Harbor.Good central place to stay for visiting the D Day beaches.Room rather small but no problem for single person.Cleaned every day with clean towels.Good selection of food for breakfast.
Great historic hotel that is in a perfect location. Nice staff and you
look out your window or walk out the door and are on the beach. Just 10-
15 minutes to the American memorial grave sites.
Loved it and woul stay again. It is part of a very nice town!.
Had a bright beachfront room, friendly & helpful staff - especially when choosing meals as I have several food allergies and no talent for foreign languages. Across the street from Gold Beach (British landing site) and close-by Normandy/WWII sites.
Location-I wanted to visit the Beaches. I enjoyed breakfast at the hotel out in the glassed in covered dining area with views to the sea. It was adequate for my purposes but probably difficult for a couple as the room was small.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, excellent location and very pet friendly as we had a large dog with us which was no problem at all. The decor and style also added to the experience of where it was located on the d day beaches.
The warm friendly staff and excellent location. This hotel has an elegant old world ambiance. The staff were very accomadating. During this short stay our whole family were deeply impressed and will be returning.
Knowing this was an older hotel but looked like it was in a great spot we booked with no expectations and had a great surprise. Location perfect, good value, room very clean.
The friendliness of the staff. Prompt service with a smile. The location is in the center to all the beaches and the view is amazing, right next door to the embark museum.
near the sea front, central in area for seeing the sights and museums re DDay etc.
friendly staff, clean hotel comfortable rooms.
Food good and restaurant too.
The rooms although small were comfortable and clean,
The location opposite Gold Beach was fantastic, the staff were friendly and breakfast was good.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic location
Very comfortable bed/mattress.
Classic older hotel building with a lot of history.
staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful - nothing too difficult or awkward. Great central place to stay with own car park.
Hotel is very close to the beach and also the June 6th museum.
Very good base for touring the area of the D Day landings.
Great location, classy for anyone who can exist outside the false demands and expectations of most of us North Americans.
Really French atmosphere. Especially enjoyed the breakfasts and the location: right on the square behind the beach.
room was clean and comfortable. location very good for Normandy beaches. staff in restaurant and hotel very good.
the location was right on the sea front and very close to all the amenities, bars, restaurants, museum and beach.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Menu of the day was excellent value with imaginative well cooked food.
Centrally located on the beaches of Normandy for day trips east or west. Dead center of Gold Beach.
Right on Normandy Beach, Museum across the street. Good food in the pub downstairs. Nice staff.
Lack of support a staff if you need help with luggage.
Great location, eat somewhere else.
Ideal position for touring the sites of the Battle of Normandy Food in the hotel very good.
hotel very central to d day museum and ideel location for touring to landing beaches.
The location is really great at the sea front and right in the center of the village.
Great location, right on the coast. Close to Bayeaux and Normandy beaches.
Great food, very child friendly, brilliant location, parking availability.
Spacious bedroom Large Bathroom Friendly Staff Restaurant on
bottom floor.
The history and museums. Excellent food. Beachside location.
Close to the beach...
Nice staff...
Good food...
Price...
Great location, very good restaurant, and friendly staff.
Locationgood. Central to all things I wanted to see.
Very easy location. The museum was especially good.
Good restaurant with good prices for the area.
The women employees were helpful and curtious.
location and friendliness of staff.
Windows overlook Channel.
good location. good price.
Everything.
Location.
- Great location
- Large room
- Cozy old hotel
- Great place to stay when travelling around the Normandy beaches
- "Fawlty towers"-feeling, staff always arguing and shouting, didn't always have everything under control.
Location directly across the road from beach and wwii historical area
was excellent. Ate at the attached restaurant which was also superb.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We were visiting the landing beaches. Good central location for that.
Hotel was typical French hotel - good buffet breakfast. Room very clean
and tidy. Would stay there again.
The location was superb. I LIKED THE PARKING ARRANGEMENT WITH THE MUNICIPAL OFFICER.
The staff were very friendly
The hotel had a historical war time feel.
We last stayed here some thirty years ago. The bedrooms have much improved since then and are warm and comfortable. The sea view is quite remarkable.
location, room was clean and big (Room 1), location, location, location....and they know it. historic building shown in pics of dday 1944.....
Central to touring the Overlord invasion beaches. Good location and an iconic building.
Hotel staff cannot speak much English.
Public bus service is awful, better to rent a car if you want to visit Juno and Omaha Beach.
Our room was advertised as having a sight to the ocean but instead we received a room looking at the backyard.
Older building created typical old building issues... But it added to
the charm.
lack of outlets by the bed.
There was no problems or anything we didn't like.
nothing all good!.
Very small bathrooms, some street noise (to be expected).
Walls a bit "thin"...could easily hear voices in adjoining room.
No elevator (not a big deal - staff was willing to assist carrying luggage up the stairs.
Almost no parking. Parking can be found on the street but this is not always easy.
The skate was a daring but awful thing to put on the menu. The wifi was hit and miss but that really was not a big deal.
at the time of our stay the hotel was being refurbished with decorators equipment about but not a big deal really.
Room was a bit on the small side but fine for a short stay.
Lack of support a staff if you need help with luggage.
Arromanches very quiet in the evenings.
Nothing.
The town is dead in the evening!.
Car park it and miss.
There are a lot of stairs to carry luggage up three fights. Not
recommended for an older couple.
Very noisy above the resturant as well, especially in the early morning (5:00 AM) for beer and beverage deliveries.
Wifi wasn't working.
The men were not. It seemed to take longer to take my food order while
others who came later were served right away. Maybe because I did not
speak French.-.
no refreshments facilities in room and no lift in hotel.
no elevator (we had to walk up 4 flites of stairs). Power went out one nite-----no breakfast in the morning. Staff were not very proficient in English.
Nothing.
No internet service.
- Slooooooooow service
- Hotel a bit run down
- Free parking was too small, not enough space for more than a few cars
- Staff started shouting and arguing at 7 am in the morning.
The bed was not very comfortable, but for price was as expected. Rooms
like a few other places a little hot and stuffy.
In general the public areas were a bit "tired" but a ll
clean and tidy. Very small cramped car park but big public car park
across the road.
No lift. Slow service as few staff appeared to be over burdened
Breakfast was too costly for its simplicity
Ocean view was too limited as we were in room 24. This was almost like looking through port holes.
Thirty years ago the food was fantasic. Sadly this is no longer so and now tends towards fast food. Portion control is evident. The hotel and restaurant were not busy but the staff seemed to be under pressure.
staff....couldn't care if we were there or not, rushed us through the very poor, expensive restaurant, breakfast is a poor experience with a very diy attitude.
