my room was upgraded to a suite. room was clean, staff on check in was very professional and the check in was quick and easy. i am a returning customer and will continue staying here on future trips. best part this hotel offers free wifi through out hotel and in rooms where as other more expensive hotels do not offer this. Location is great, Starbucks downstairs and next to Dagu rd the street famous for DVD shops, cafe restaurant and massage places! The door people are very friendly, the receptionists were just ok.

I am 'not impressed, by any hotel - who offers room rates that are 'reasonable' then applys a 15% service charge on top (which was in small print on Booking . com & on the Hotel web site ) when I asked for an 'explanation as to what this was for ! no explanation was 'forthcomming' then 1 manager said "its just Hotel policy" - this is just "GREED & very DISHONEST" !!. Poor room service. Discovered the hotel has changed owners , service has declined , hot water in the shower only , air condition was not turned on ( fan only operating ). Construction was noisy Crib for baby was broken Coffee/tea not replaced daily Swimming pool closed Could have offered discounts to guests due to inconvenience of construction Manager in reception not very friendly. The air con needs to change. The room temp is constantly bordered around 25 degree. Chinese staff at reception at the check in was kind of rude. Bad location, I should have been informed at the time of booking that there is massive construction work around the hotel and roads are perenially blocked. staff: confused ground floor restaurant: crazy staff. i informed FD 1hr ahead for a taxi, but was told it is really difficult to get one during rush hour, however they were a few taxis queuing outside but refuse to take the guests. Hotel sees it but take no action. Recently they have changed the owner.. Is not anymore a Amercian..but is a Chinese..they've also changed the name of the hotel to "ACME"... I used to be a frequent customer but this changed affect a lot the staff and the feeling...is not anymore the international hotel of before. I will not go there anymore. the room was out of my expectation , compare my last stay in other howard johnson in same city, the hotel was under painting in some flours and all the paint smell was in my room and i used tablets for my headache Breakfast was not 5 star Bathroom was not 5 star The hotel have no garden and i don't know how they announced 5 star.
