The decoration and the minimalistic style, and it's new renovated. This time I had a great room at 18th floor with free wi-fi. Excelent view even from the shower :-). Close to Shanghai Railway station if you will travel by train to other cities, and easy to go by taxi to Pudong airport too. 50 min without rush hour. Restaurant both for buffet or A La Carte is very nice, and lobby bar is also nice.
all reviews » We are a mature couple and had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. The breakfast was exellent in all respect. The interior of the rooms and lobby were more than our expectations. The help by the concierge and bell boy was wonderful. They arranged our city tour which was memorable. They helped writing in Chinese language for our taxi journey. We will cherish our 3 days stay for ever. Awesome value of money and quality. Wonderful design renovation , very beautiful/stylish furniture and decoration. Felt incredibly comfortable, very comfy bed with pillow menu (on a different choice). Great multinational food at breakfast. All the staff are english speaking and very friendly. In general - extremely comfortable and beautiful hotel. The room that we had was excellent. More than 70 square meters of space, friendly staff at the executive lounge, reliable staff at the concierge...great experience! The subway (line 1) was only around 50 meters from the hotel. Food during breakfast was good though the choices were not as many compared with other hotels. loved the hotel, excellent staff and superb location. you will find the access to the subway and the Shanghai railway station to get to Suzhou and other destinations on your left at the lobby. Nanjin Road at 3 stops from there. Would be back if travelling to Shanghai again. The breakfast was an absolute delight and very very good. The staff and concierge spoke english and were very helpful. The hotel was very clean and the rooms comfortable. The location is right next to the Railway Station and there are shops and restaurants close by. The rooms were very well appointed. I had an excellent stay at the Mercure. The staff has been very friendly and very helpful. The executive lounge provided a relaxing place for afternoon drinks and morning's breakfast. The bed was very soft and comfortable. The hotel is in an excellent location for train travellers. Luxurios decoration and confort for a good price. I had a room in the Club area, upgraded to a suite, plenty of room and facilities, late check out, free wifi. This hotel was absolutely great. All rooms, and I tried from the 17th floor to the 28th floor, have square windows that do not seal well allow noise from outside to come in. A spa treatment was required before being allowed access to the sauna. The underground exit 5 don't have any escalator , therefore have to walk up with our luggage. Electrics in the room were a little faulty and finishing wasn't up to 5* standard, for example the sealing around the sinks etc in the bathroom. We stayed here for access to railway station which worked well, but not really the best area for access to the tourist hotspots. Nothing. music would play in the room and we couldn't figure out how to make it stop. 28th floor view was great, would have preferred the other direction. expensive. None. Everything was ok. Nothing. Nothing special when i stay here. The Breakfast service was not really up to the standard of the hotel and the staff receiving you at the restaurant could have been much more professional and friendly. You need to start the day well. Coffee was middling. the dining room was poorly organised with innadequately trained staff. Typically running out of crockery and with the only coffee machine requiring frequent refilling breakfast could be frustrating. Club lounge needed bigger range of food my husband and I stayed 5 days and the food was the same every day.I also would like to express the hotel offers 10min neck and shoulder massage and it was held in the smokers room and been a non smoker I found this very unpleasant it was held in club lounge. Twin bed seems small. Bathroom door has no lock. We had a problem with the room being very hot. The staff could not fix the problem, so they moved us into a nicer room, hopefully at no cost. A problem we did have was that they wanted us to pay again when we checked out. I told them I had already paid and it was already on my charge, but they insisted I sign again the charge papers. I told them I would not sign again. I sincerely hope we are not charged double for this hotel. Aside from that, I would definitely stay here again. The hotel charges 300 rmb for sauna use, which staying in many 5 star hotels I have never ever had to pay for before! Cleaning lady lets you know at 7.45 am in the weekend !!! that she was not able to clean my room because of the do not disturb sign. this hotel does not offer for breakfast. none. the breakfast room is a bit stuffy and because of the location next to the railway station it can be a bit noisy. no swimming pool. Breakfast offers the same food everyday, can improve by having different sets of menus. There was a terrible smell in the lobby. The pimps outside offering me "entertainment". Front desk and concierge poor in English. No proper concierge in the night after 11 pm. there was a little confusion. i made 2 bookings, one i canceled and the other prepaid. when we were checking in, staff told me my booking was canceled without bothering to check the reservation number so i stayed in the reception longer than needed just to explain i have a valid booking. also, the carpeting was a little smelly which i discovered when i plugged my charger and had to stoop a little. lastly, the speaker of the flat tv had to be fixed. Most staff doesn't speak English, dishonest practices even compared to luxury hotels. The fact that the restuarant were out of stock of all 3 different wines i wanted to order at dinner, my son ordered buttered fish, this turned out to be battered fish and was raw/cold in the centre. No point in having extensive wine list and running out of stock of the wine in question. Slow checkin, small lobby for a luxury hotel, not much seating space while waiting for checkin. Breakfast needs more variety. Extra-bed very expensive and not very cosy.
