The staff were wonderful from the very beginning. The fax machine wasn't working and it took a few mins to get us checked in correctly and they were very nice about it. Our room then had a broken toilet and they upgraded us to a very nice room. It was very clean and comfortable. I plan to return. the grounds and pool area are amazing. being able to sit outside was wonderful. rooms well appointed. restaurant was 1st class. we were up graded and treated well. will go back again for more than one night so we can truly enjoy the secluded grounds as well as salmon arm.
all reviews » Front desk clerk was exceptionally helpful when we were looking for the destinations we wanted to visit. Found directions for us. French waitress in dining room was delightful and friendly. Housekeeping staff attended to our needs promptly and in a friendly manner. This boutique hotel provided a large well appointed room. The facility has a very pleasant design and very good restaurant. We used it while travelling through the region so didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it's extensive grounds or wonderful looking pool. Everything, especially as they were able to give us rooms in the main building where there was an elevator. My friend was VERY elderly and couldn't have managed the stairs. The passage wall rails were much appreciated. Great breakfast!. The whole experience was lovely, from the reception when we arrived, through the dining, and at check out. The room was large and comfortable.We were very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay here if in Salmon Arm again. The pool & patio is really nice - good place to unwind after travelling. Hotel is pet-friendly. The restaurant is amazing - food is fantastic and staff were very friendly and accomodating of allergies. Location - very easy to find. The swimming pool was lovely after a day travelling and the rooms were adequate. The beds were a good size. The restraunt was lovely and the food very good indeed. Our original room had toilet problems, but that was resolved. The noisy Chinese busload of patrons that carried on loudly in the hallways after dusk. They were approached by Podollan staff to be quieter, but persisted in their behavior without being asked to leave. In the morning, we could not eat in the restaurant ( hence negating the gift certificate we had been given for breakfast there) because that loud, disrespectful group of people were being catered to. The one thing my elderly friend missed, meaning she couldn't take a shower, were grab bars to help her get into and out of the shower. Something they could easily add, The low lip was perfect, but without the bars she would have been risking a fall. Forgot to tell them at check-out. The pool should be open a little later - closes at 9:00 pm which is a bit too early. We had rooms at the back of the main property and one was meant to be for self catering however I'm glad we didn't have to use this as it was very basic. Long black hair in my sink drain was yucky. I should have asked to be on the same floor as my friends as I was a woman staying on my own and would have felt more secure. My fault really. Can't think of anything. Except the rain :(. Had no complaints. As usuall our time there was to short. No ceramic mugs, only paper coffee cups, our beds were made but bathroom was not cleaned, so we did not have clean face cloths for day 2, and none of our other amenities were restocked. Front desk person was a little rude at check in. Not a great first impression. Our only unpleasant experience. Bathroom was a little cramped. no luggage rack in room. There was nothing that we didn't like. Not much parking could have been better. Rooms were small and a.c. Was loud. Bedding quite warm. The iron in the room was so old and well past it's "use by date" and leaked water and no heat when on max. Also kettle didn't work either. In the room the air conditioner was very noisy. Also, the inside rim of the toilet was very dirty. Shower curtain missing couldn't make tv work w/o assistance from front desk. no access to a computer as did not have a laptop. My wife found the lighting in the room ( by the mirror above the desk) too low, making it difficult while trying to do her hair. The fact that your wedding bar and lounge had two different priced liquors with the lounge being the cheaper - it took people out of the wedding setting so they could drink cheaper drinks - this I found very rude on behalf of wedding guest but also inconsiderate on the part of the facility hosting the event as you were making money both places - I understand not bringing drinks from one to the other but I do not understand two different prices. Dated styling. I guess it was too early for the pool to be in operation? Would have been nice to look at the water. We enjoyed the garden though. It must look lovely in the summer. Beds were a little soft. Dining room and fridge with big ice block. The toilet was plugged when I arrived. I know how old the Podollan Inn is and I was quite surprised how worn and not kept up it was. Chipping outside on the walkways, splatters on the bathroom walls, toilet lid and seat badly discolored yellow. Towel fraying. Mold bottom of shower stall. I sensed a lack of attention to its state. The rooms in the express building need a refresher. The weekend before the May long weekend is when Salmon Arm hosts a large mountain biking event that brought us to BC. The podoallan should aim to have the pool and gardens geared up for that weekend not the following. Restaurant a little pricey but the food was good. letsbookhotel.com double booked some rooms, so i got a phone call saying we would be upgraded to a "luxury suite" but when we got there some people had cancelled apparently so we got a standard room. They should have either given us the upgraded room like they said they would, or call me when they found out and explain why. The food menu, not good value for $$. The menu was for a very high end restaurant not this hotel. You could see in the room there was dust, objects were not moved to be cleaned underneith, just cleaned around them. Towels where worn and torn. Room required a serious "spring" cleaning. Some sort of animal excrement found next to one bed and several dead bugs and dirt between wall and beds. Blinds on window are paper thin and do nothing to block out daylight. We stayed in the back part of the hotel. For the money we spent - $200.00, it was not worth it. The room definately needs a face lift and that includes the bedding, etc. Very disappointed ... Motel side room was dingy and dark feeling. Staff at Table 24 Restaurant very poor in the AM...would not serve us until all guests from a tour bus had breakfast...even if they were not in restaurant yet...because cook had all of their food out and ( all bacon, eggs and toast) and could not cook a couple of eggs for us while waiting for them to even show up! Complained at front desk, but just got a lukewarm response from them and no action was taken as far as we know. it was very over price for the money...we showed up an hour after later than our check in time to a dirty room...they comped a meal for our inconvenience and felt they were doing us a favor at that.
