The room was quite comfortable and clean. It was perfect having the desk space as I could set up and work there during the evening. The couch was perfect for watching TV rather than having to sit/lie on the bed. The location was perfect -- halfway between my son's apartment (university student) and the Byward Market. The staff were very friendly and always eager to help. Overall, great value for the money!!!.
all reviews » The hotel is "hidden from view" as it were. It is a bit out of the way (and close to a somewhat run down area), yet in reality, super-close to everything that matters in downtown Ottawa, and easy access to transportation. So, lesser known which gives it a good price for an excellent location. And rooms spacious for the size. Young staff very helpful and polite. We went to Ottawa to enjoy the National Art Gallery and a play at the Ottawa Little Theatre. We liked that the gallery was very close driving and the theatre even closer (just around the corner). The underground parking was great. The weather was nasty, so it was a bonus that Don Cherry's (a sports bar/restaurant) could be accessed in the of the hotel. Great location--walking distance to downtown, many ethnic restaurants nearby including a excellent Persian and several Middle Eastern ones. Rooms very clean, housekeeping staff does a great job. Reception friendly and helpful. Wifi signal adequate to good. the staff were very accomodating for any needs. I was upgraded to a nice room on the 18th floor and what a view of Ottawa, for the first time being there. I enjoyed the Don Cherry Pub with good food off the lobby. the price was right and good gym room. All good,comfortable and modern. Walking distance to parlimant. A mega grocery and good wine shop just opposite of the hotel. Lots of malls, shops and the big street mark in walking distance. Accessinle by city buses from the coach terminal. The team was really nice and helpfull. They are all very attentive and friendly. I stayed with my parents and my brother during a family trip and we have been really surprised of the quality: welcoming, clean, well localisated. Nice and clean hotel right in the city centre (no need to take public transport to go downtown). Subway and bus station very near anyway. Big supermarket close by, helpful if you want to buy something and have it in your room. The gentlemen who helped us check-in was very kind and helpful. When he found out that we are visiting Ottawa and Canada first time, he upgraded our room and gave us a nice room with nice view at a high floor!. The location was great, we were close to everything. We parked the car and walked everywhere. It was quiet at night so we could sleep. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!. Staff were very accommodating and pleasant. While there, our car was broken into (garage beneath the hotel which it does not own) and the maintenance men were exceptionally helpful. Very pleasant front desk staff. The room was very clean and comfortable. T.V. did not work but maintenance was there in very short order...just a loose connection. Its location. Close to the Parliament (4 or 5 blocks from there) and the Rideau Canal. Parking at the same building, although costly (16 CA). Location of hotel is great for sightseeing, walking and all amenities are very close to hotel. great that we didn't have to drive all over!. Was in Ottawa to pick up grandson from U of Ottawa. Hotel very close to all we needed to do. Access and departure was easy. The hôtel is very well located near shopping and markets. We travel with 2 pets and a little girl it was perfect. The front desk staff was really nice to me and provide lots of information for casino entertainment route. The location was wonderful - well within walking distance of major Ottawa attractions and restos. Very close to everything tourists need to see. Not an overabundance of outlets, but manageable. there was not a thing I didn't like. I am going to return there soon. The walk to Rideau shopping centre was just right for me, a senior. Staff should pay more attention when checking in. We had to find out by ourselves that they charged us 50$ for each day. We wish that room service was available. Adjoining restaurant - Don Cherry's Bar and Grill was awful....dreadful food. I parked in the hotel underground car park and scraped the side of my lovely Cadillac. Parking spaces far too small unless you have a tiny car. It was ridiculous....and very expensive for me. Coffe machine at the room needs a renewal. The vendor machine, close to the corridor in each floor is too noise. Try not to be at the rooms numbered xx01. The parking is somewhat limited and for first time visitors a little confusing,but hotel staff were very good at helping. The elevator does not work so well. And for the parking overnight, the price of parking is a bit higher. The room was a little tired and very damp. It may have been the fact that it had been really humid the week before we arrived. Elevator was a bit slow (I did nit mind though as I was not pressed with time) and parking is 18cad per 24hrs (but behind the grocery store - metro, there is an all night parking for just 10cad. Price might change in the future but right now it's cheaper than what the hotel offers). The breakfast offered at Don Cherry's was just ok, not everybody wants bacon and eggs(heart attack on a plate). Choice would have been nice. Television service was out for entire stay. - too much construction in area. Everything was perfect. Nothing. No t enough power outlets for electronics ie. I pads? Laptops/Phone Chrgrs. Etc. No mention in the hotel literature (in the room) where one may buy breakfast. Only upon leaving the hotel for a meeting did I realize that the sports bar below served breakfast. It was not obvious to me that a sports bar would serve in the AM. heater is not automatic. At check out the guaranteed price for the room from letsbookhotel.com wasn't honoured. Find this discomforting since I get the feeling that when I book online am not sure what to expect when u get there. Price online was $93.60 was charged $96.30 neat switch of the numbers!!!![Actually I was guaranteed $89 if I book when I did] Not a big difference but I figure if it was worth playing with the numbers then its worth pointing out. Room needed minor repairs to air conditioner and rip in couch. Don Cherry's restaurant way too hot (needed A/C on and unfriendly staff). Check in took a very long time. Parking is atrocious! Underground, very tight, actually kind of scary to park in and get out of. Horrible, horrible parking. Room smelled like carpet-infused cigarette smoke when we entered (and it's anon-smoking hotel!). Rooms could have been a bit bigger; not enough power sockets. Parking directions are confusing. No brekfast (we used one annex to the hotel, but the people there are not much friendly) and the parking place below the hotel (not included) must have a better solution. It is a public one, but once we get back to the hotel after dinner, it was crowded. elevator to access parking was out-of-order. For "free internet" they meant something like 500k and that was disappointing. breakfast no free parking. The decor needs updating. Found the hotel on the web, said it had parking and internet. Had to pay $18 a night for parking and free internet was too slow do do anything unless I paid to upgrade.
