this is a really beautifully restored older hotel in the middle of a small city. the staff asre really helpful and informative. the decor is lovely, and they include so many amenities. before you arrive they turn on the lights and have the local tv chanel with soft music on as well. they include a full menu sitdown served breakfast as well, and believe it or not, you can phone anywhere in the world for free!!! i loved it!!.
all reviews » Outstanding renovation of an historic downtown hotel. It is well located in downtown Kamloops, with a very nice patio restaurant and bar. Rooms small but comfortable and well appointed. Charming lobby and lovely artwork featuring local painters. Short walk to the Riverside Park. Shopping and summer Farmer's Market steps from the front door. Staff extremely helpful and welcomingl. Would certainly stay there again. Everything, from the friendly & detailed reception to the spotless, recently renovated & well appointed room, and the restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderful dining experience (as well as a complimentary full hot breakfast the next morning). This hotel is a real gem with very affordable rates. Our first visit, but we will definitely stopover at The Plaza on future trips. Liked the historical aspect of the hotel and the old timber lift. Found it charming and the service was really personal and professional. A very comfortable bed and most of the staff fabulous and friendly! One especially, really went out of her way for me and stood out as one of the most professional hospitality workers I've ever met. Absolutely fantastic. Welcome and check in good. Locals use this venue rather than the plastic competition. Slightly old fashioned, but genuine, comfortable and clean. Food good both for dinner and breakfast. Bar area buzzing in early evening. Welcoming offer to lend any forgotten items, including iPads and chargers -very refreshing. Good wifi, We will stay there again. From the moment we walking into this chic hotel we were meet with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. We have nothing but compliments: the staff is friendly but not overbearing; the cleaning people are wonderfully cooperative and patient and the complementary breakfast is generous and served by gracious servers. A great experience. This is a great hotel that plays up it's heritage and was one of the reasons I was attracted to it. Rooms are nicely renovated. Nice flat screen TV. Attached restaurant is excellent as well. The price was very good. I would stay here again anytime I needed a room in Kamloops. Hotel was well located and easy to find. Great restaurants and easy access to banks. Casino was close by for those who like to gamble. Staffs were really friendly and helpful in providing hotel information. I read others opinion before booking and couldn't believe how accurate they were.It was a pleasure to stay there and I'll be back as I have to be in Kamloops from time to time, now I know where to go. Very good value, nicely restored and a nicer feel than some chain hotels. Good town centre location, some rooms might get a bit noisy perhaps but ours fine. Rooms very well appointed and a good size, bigger than I expected. Helpful staff. The Hotel was welcoming, warm and friendly.. It was clean.. The FREE international calls were great, we contacted all our family and friends in Australia. beds were comfortable..Dinner in the restaurant was nice, so was the Breakfast. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Felt like 5 star service. The beds were very comfortable. The room was a bit loud Saturday night once the bars got out but we would definatley use The Plaza for all future visits!. The hotel was based in city centre, the room and bathroom facilities were very good, they had a bar and restaurant which was very good, breakfast was okay. Staff very friendly and helpful. I liked how the hotel is updated but still has the charm of the hotel. nothing at all. everything was perfect. Breakfast was a little disappointing - you had to make slightly strange choices from 2 lists. But again the service was pleasant - there was a slightly difficult customer at the next table and the staff were patient, polite and very amenable with her. Getting a parking ticket in the parking lot next door despite putting the hotel's ticket in the car.. Redeemed by the hotel saying they would sort it!!!. My room was facing to the back of the building and there was this noise of the exhaust fan! But it is a downtown location, you have to put up with some kind of noise. $5.00 extra for a parking spot. All was well!. Room is a bit small ( the more expensive rooms are bigger). The elevator was really small and slow. It could probably fit two people with two luggage. The bars were really noisy. I understand that I visited the hotel on a Saturday night. But if there are some sort of regulations placed around the noise level, that would be great. I think not all visitors like to drink or party on a Saturday night right?. Nothing. The noise at all hours of the night in the street. we got approached by a begger as soon as we got out of our car.. we were put on a floor where workers had left things out for the next days..they were shocked we were on the 4th floor..the windows need to be double glazed for noise.. one room the window didnt close properly at all.. but overall quite a pleasant stay.. The restaurant down stairs was extremely overpriced and the food was so so. We had a free 15.00 appy which was a nice touch but even with that very expensive!! Would not reccomend or go back.. Room was a bit small but we had been pre warned of this. Breakfast was choice of continental or cooked, no choice of cereals or fruit. A few hooks on the walls may help alleviate the shortage of space. Room was small, but this was expected. The area of town seems to shut down around 7 pm and seemeda bit sketchy. The only food was at the hotel, one other bar and a mcdonalds. You'd have to drive elsewhere for more options. We were right beside the elevator and it was a little noisy. We had our continental breakfast, which was included with our room, but they wante to charge us for syrup. They chared us for parking, which was not convienient. No heating in the bathroom : dont close the door at night if you dont want to freeze in the morning!. A few options on the menu of smaller items would be good as you don't always want a full on meal. Had to pay an extra $10 for parking. N/A. Traffic noise. Nothing we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There are better options for lunch and dinner than the hotel. Elevator is small and old. Bathroom was a bit convoluted but I understand the challenges of renovating a 1928 hotel. Wi Fi and phone a bit sporadic. Parking was an issue. Next door and not secure. We were told to either empty our car, or place items out of sight. Street noise ... Perhaps some new double pane windows on the SE corner rooms... When the boiler came on at 5 AM there were air locks in the system that hammered away like someone pounding on the pipes in the room with a big ballpeen hammer. We had appetizers in the bar. Ordered 3 different choices to share and didn't really care for any one of them. Basic food would have been more appealing than over aged cheese and spicy cold cuts. It just wasn't enjoyable to eat. Small but comfortable rooms and washrooms, v small, Small and somewhat drab elevator (they are probably stuck with it - v expensive to change). Exterior - none of them easily remedied by the hotel: derelicts, limited services on a holiday, somewhat drab downtown - but they are trying and it has improved somewhat. Wind and dust ... but what can you say ... that's, Kamloops. Noise at night from wedding party in parking lot. Old hotel, need renovation, specially to improve the isolation from noise of the air conditions. Small elevator Inadequate air conditioning. the music. At 6:30, I don't want hard rock or electric blues music----it's completely inappropriate, and way too loud. The uneven floor in the room was a little strange.
