What people say

The hotel was spotless in an excellent location of Sydney. The area was safe & friendly. The concierge staff & in particular Troy gave invaluable advice on how to get the most out of your trip to Sydney. We have since travelled to a new hotel in Melbourne & really notice the difference in their assistance compared to the Grace Hotel. The hotel had been recommended to us & it surpassed all expectations.
all reviews The hotel design is unique, the situation to shops, retaurants, Darling Harbour, OperaHouse, buses, trains etc. is convenient. The bed was fairly firm, certainly better than 99% of other hotels. The concierges were extremely helpful too. When the sign to service the room is placed on the door, one's room is cleaned etc almost immediately! A very pleasant stay!10 Out of 10!. The Grace Hotel is in an excellent location - it is central to everywhere we wanted to go...Darling Harbour, CBD, The Rocks and Circular Quay....I have stayed here on quite a few different occasions...Spacious, comfortable, clean rooms...staff very pleasant to deal with...Front Restaurant and Bar staff were attentive and the food was very enjoyable... Very spacious and comfortable premium king room. Staff were friendly and efficient. We loved the art deco decoration in the lobby and halls. The location near Wynyard Station and one block from George Street was convenient to both the city, Circular Quay and the Rocks. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes in the area. Location excellent wifi excellent very fast staff very helpful, allowed me to check in at 7am after flight from London and generally helpful getting cab, check out etc. would definitely go back there - have been travelling for 6 weeks and have stayed in lots of 4 and 5 star hotels and this is good value for money. Good sized rooms we had three and they were all the same, with lounge chairs or couch. Plenty of space to meet as a group before heading out. Arrived at 10.30 am and our room was ready so early checking was appreciated as was the late check out. Great location and quiet rooms, with lovely Art Deco style. Great mid city location, easy walking to Darling Harbour and Circular Quay and the Rocks. Very comfortable beds with crisp sheets and large room with modern furniture and very clean. Reception staff made an effort to get us to the room earlier, as we came in before checking time, which was appreciated. Arrived early and still able to check into our room - fantastic customer service after an early morning flight from NZ. All staff we encountered helpful and cheerful Room spacious and quiet. Although you don't book into a hotel to watch tv, there was an excellent choice of channels available. Fantastic location, a short walk to everything I was interested in, shopping, galleries, night life and restaurants. My room was quiet and very comfortable and I slept well. The staff were very warm, friendly and helpful. Room service orders arrived before the promised time which was great. Good location 5 mins from Darling Harbour and short water taxi ride to the Opera House and The Bridge if you did not want to do the 25 min walk. Facilities and service good. Breakfast dining excellent and numerous variety of restaurants and typical tourist attractions. An ideal city location. Just loved the way it has been restored. I started my first job in 1965 in this building. The stair well and rest room walls/doors have been preserved. I even stayed on the floor I last worked on in 1970! The memories flooded back of all the people I knew. Just loved this hotel. Clean comfortable spacious room. Location was fantastic, a few mins walk to Pitt St, qvb, shops, transport etc. The hotel rooms are lovely and quiet. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The pool was small but I had it to myself. The gym looked good but I didn't use it. The buffet breakfast deal with the neo king room was brilliant, great value for money. the location was amazing, right in the centre of the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to see the sights of Sydney in walking distance and loves a big breaky!. I have stayed here a few times when on business in Sydney. It is in a brilliant location and the rooms are very comfortable. The original architecture in the lobby is quite beautiful and a reflection of Sydney in its early years. Staff are always extremely helpful. I've stayed at Grace Hotel a few years ago prior to the refurbishment. This time I really noticed the change in upgrade to the rooms: clean, comfortable and classy. Would definitely stay there again and have already recommended the hotel to fellow collegues. Location was perfect, easy walking distance to shops. Room was spacious with two single beds & enough room to include extra bed for my daughter to stay one night. Beautiful architecture of the building. Enjoyed happy hour with friends in bar upstairs. Central location within walking distance to restaurants, shops and local transport. Large comfortable room meticulously cleaned daily. The range of food/beverage offered at breakfast was one of the most comprehensive I have had in any other hotel. Location is great, shops, cafes, supermarkets, restaurants, buses, trains close by. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely old building. Conference facilities were very good. Meals eaten at the hotel very nice and reasonable price range. Close to everywhere we want to go, and top of building there's entertaining floor for free such as swimming pool, gym, spa and sauna. Service was great. I enjoyed staying at Grace. Early check in and let us know when room is ready. Location was ideal for a long weekend in the CBD and train station to Airport. Concierge were very helpful and we appreciated that they stored our luggage until check-in and when we departed for the airport in the afternoon. QUIET rooms! Spacious too, and good deals. I have stayed here before and like it for the peace and quiet despite being in the centre of the city. Staff are always very pleasant, and this time I was very kindly upgraded too. Perfect location for most sites walkable from hotel. Lovely sized rooms. Staff very helpful. Take breakfast as good value. The staff are always helpful, and cannot fault the hotel. A good hotel makes a stay most pleasant. We liked the location of the hotel, as it was very close to the shopping district of town. The lobby was very nice, as was the fact that there were multiple elevators, so we could always get to our room very smoothly. The Grace Hotel is conveniently located in the CBD. An easy walk from the train station and both harbours. The hotel is comfortable and quiet and affordable in an otherwise expensive city. I highly recommend it. The old quaint hotel at the corner of King and York st with so many small and cute coffee shops around. Feel like in small European strips. Walking distance to everywhere like QVB, The Star, Darling Harbour. The staff was always very helpful and friendly; our room was quite comfortable and quiet; the price we paid was a good value; the location was excellent for exploring the major cites in Sydney on foot. room is large with modern furnishings; quiet on the inside room for sleeping; only 6 or 8 blocks from ferries, and close to shopping; so able to walk everywhere; laundry facilities on site;. Beautiful historical building, comfortable rooms and very close to everything including transport. Nice pool and recreation room with no closing hours which is a refreshing change. Excellent location, great for walking to all the major locations in Sydney. Room spacious and comfortable, and very quiet. Very impressive foyer. Nice history of the building. The Grace is a lovely hotel with good facilities and is particularly well located close to shopping and restaurants as well as Wynward and Town Hall stations and Darling Harbour. The communal areas were superb, ambience fantastic in the lobby. Staff were wonderful, friendly, courteous and efficient. Room service was good. Nice food and reasonably priced. Rooms were big and comfortable, location was fantastic and made getting around easy, and staff were lovely and always on hand to provide assistance and advice about where to go. Room was spacious and quiet. Bed were a little firm but the alternative is usually very uncomfortable. Location was great for exploring city and surrounds, close to everything. It suited my trip on Business. I had easy access to all the CBD. Train was very close for access to and from the Airport. My room was fitted adequately to work in my room. The location was great Staff were friendly and helpful especially the conceirge. The rooms were a nice size and the twin beds were normal double beds (not two single beds). Staff were helpful with remedying situations as needed the dinner buffet discount for hotel guests as it would be too pricey for quality of presentation of food otherwise. Very convenient location, close both to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. Undrground station just 500m from the hotel (line to the airport). Nice spa, we really enjoyed. The grace is a clean and comfortable hotel, the rooms are of a high standard and the building itself is grand, there are restraunts which are not limited to hotel guests. We loved everything, service was perfect - everyone made you feel very special and important! The bed was very hard to get out of in the morning!!!! Location was perfect!. The staff both in reception and at the restaurant were very efficient and friendly. Rooms comfortable . quiet and well cleaned. Hotel had a peaceful old world feel. Loved this place! Easy train access to the hotel from the airport, right in the centre of things. Right across from lively bar. Heritage building. It was excellent!. I liked the fact that there is some history to the hotel and the architecture. Also the location was perfect, its within walking distance to all the attractions. The staff were great in allowing us to use the fitness centre facilities when we had checked out and came back to pick up our bags soaking wet after a downpour. Excellent location. Walking distance to opera, darling harbor, shopping area, bars, restaurants. In the middle of everything. Great choice to see the city. Our organisation had an Exhibition/Conference for 5 days - staff were most helpful..... our wishes were catered for immediately and very professionally. I loved the old world'ie' luxury and the friendly greetings when coming and going from the hotel on a daily basis. Also it is so lovely and peaceful. Comfortable and clean room and bed. Great location - easy walk to Darling harbour, The Rocks, Circular key and train stations. Nice historic building. I have stayed at the grace a couple of times and I love it, I am buying some vouchers for Christmas this year it is so central to everything thankyou. My massive room, very comfy bed, cleanliness of hotel, perfect location & also enjoyed reading the history of the hotel & Grace brothers. The early check in was a nice surprise. I thought I would have to leave my bag at the reception until 3pm, but was able to check in at 11am. Leisure facilities had some items out of use. The rooms are a bit stuffy as all these "sealed" hotels are. I prefer to have an opening section for fresh air! For the price perhaps an included continental breakfast ,say for $10/00 would be a perk!(ie. To travel around the hotel!) We took a taxi to the Racecourse for the Arts & Antique Dealers Fair, from outside the hotel, not realising that it went around the block to reach the required road---- $9/00 for that!!. There is nothing to dislike about this hotel!. One small point: the dedicated toasters for gluten-free bread were used by one guest for ordinary bread. Although this was witnessed by a staff member he made no effort to clean the toaster. This could cause real problems for someone suffering from coeliac disease. Perhaps a different location>location or clearer sign is needed?. Wi Fi more expensive than anywhere in the city, and breakfast not included in the price. We thought the hotel breakfast so-so Lobby seating not all that comfortable or convenient. Had to leave after 5 nights and go home! back to cooking and cleaning. Nothing really to dislike. It would have been nice to be able to get a coffee/Irish coffee on the weekend!. The room was furnished in dark brown decor and as my window looked onto a wall facing other windows I had to keep the curtains closed, making the room very dark. The pool was overheated but considering the cold weather I didn't mind this time. Be prepared to take your own hairdryer. The one in the room is very basic. Hotel car parking prices far too expensive even to park for a couple of hours! reasonable rates would encourage visitors to visit guests staying at hotel and promote more business for hotel café/bar. Some staff not as efficient and knowledgeable as one would expect. In fact some were quite arrogant. Beds ok but not really comfortable - very hard but probably suits others. Shower above bath and bath very high. No good if you have any injury or disability. Portable bath rails are available but still a high step over the bath edge. Floors in showers in the recreation area hazardous- when wet are very slippery and no grab rails near by. We'd asked for our luggage when we checked in at 3pm. The concierge said he'd bring it up to our room in 10 mins. It was almost an hour before we got our bags. I know things get busy with many people checking-n at the same time, so I'd have preferred to be able to check-in sooner (since we had a very early morning flight), and I'd rather collect our bags when we did return in the afternoon to check-in, rather than wait. Limited breakfast choices at the downstairs café but that might not be operated by the hotel. The hair dryer was quite difficult to operate, and we had to call the front desk to ask how to use it. Maybe a sign which shows how to use it may be helpful. Also, having to wait for the room to be inspected upon check-out was extremely inconvenient. The hotel entrance closed off early but the card to gain access doesn't work some time. The steep price for Internet access. Internet access should be recognized as an essential utility, like electricity, indoor plumbing, TV, not an opportunity to gouge guests, as with the in-room minibar. I can do without the mini-bar; who can do without Internet access these days?. no ability to get ice without using room service; costly internet charge. Nothing comes to mind, would definitely stay here next time too. Would have liked to have a residents bar for a quiet night time drink with friends. The mattress was a bit hard. My room needed an in depth clean and maintenance. Vacuuming around skirting boards a must, dust had builtup. A few minor maintenance issues in bathroom and furniture. Pillows needed replacing. The tv wasn't working on my last morning, was disappointing as my plan was a lazy morning in bed watching tele. Nothing. Fitness area a bit sparse and old. Would be freezing to use in Winter, thus for me, Grace Hotel would be a place only to stay at warmer times because fitness center is required for me at any hotel I select. Buffet food presentation quality for the money was a bit low to me. Breakfast price is very expensive. The only think I have to complain about is the excessive Internet charge, - 25aud for 24 hours !!!!!!!,. Nothing. Rooms comfortable but a little sparse..dressing gowns when travelling are very welcome . Initially gave me a room that was already occupied. Bed is average at best. Stayed in neo king room. Skip the breakfast, walk around town, lots of interesting choices for food and coffee. Do not bother asking which areas to visit, staff not that knowledgeable. No Business Centre in Hotel. I didn't need it (as I made my own arrangements via Telstra) - but some of our customers/clientele would have like one with minimal costs to go onto internet - unusual not to have in a Hotel of this standing. Wifi was available at a considerable cost but not everyone had a laptop with them anyway & not all mobiles have the facility activated. Towels were not of a softness expected of such a Hotel.....but otherwise no complaints. The interconnecting door was not locked which was a bit worrying as a single female traveller and a security issue. There was no outside window. A few extra details such as bathrobe and freestanding shower would improve the room. Internet prices were ridiculous (all Austrailia needs to get up to date with this) & hefty credit card security deposit on check in.
