This booking was for an Aunt who stayed at the same hotel under a booking for 3 nights made by myself and then a further 2 nights stay booked by my Aunts daughter so she could join us in the city while we were visiting. The fact that they were able to accommodate the person I had booked for on the same floor as we were staying as well as when it came time to check in and out (due to the 2 different bookings made) my Aunt was able to continue on in the same room through out her stay. all reviews » Location was great, right in the heart of melbourne. Parking was $20 at reception with Wilson parking on Corner of Swanston and Little Collins. Very quite in the room (7th Floor) with very bustling eateries below and right outside of the hotel. Very near to Fliders Street station, Trams to Victoria Market and on to Coburg. Breakfast in basement was superb and great choice of foods for continental. Casino not very far about $8 in a cab. The hotel was right in the middle of the city and we spilled out of the front door into funky little cafes in the laneway. We could walk from the hotel anywhere we wanted to go and drop our shopping off and keep going. The rooms are sound proof and good block out curtains. The staff were always friendly and very helpful. It is our new place to stay when visiting Melbourne. We would highly recommend the Causeway 353. The location was excellent. The room was good with a very comfortable bed however the pillows were terrible. I asked the staff for better pillows and they said they were all awful and that there had been other complaints but nothing every got done. Breakfast was adequate but boring after a couple of days, the same every day. The airport shuttle bus stopped a few steps away from the hotel - great. This hotel is not flash, but is clean, comfortable, surprisingly quiet and well located. Our room was dark at night and therefore conducive to sleeping, thanks to block-out blinds, and no annoying (ceiling) glow from sprinkler alarm systems. While the continental breakfast is not fancy, we found it more than adequate. I liked the location, parking was close and only $5.00 per night, spa bath was great and never ran out of hot water,the bathroom was really nice and modern, bed was comfy, pillows were good, one bath robe was soft the other one scratchy, slippers were comfy, pizza shop below was nice, breakfast was basic but nice :). Great location! Our room was very clean and comfortable. It is true that some of the furniture looked a bit worn out but this was such a small thing, it didn't really matter as the room & bathroom was very clean and tidy. The continental breakfast was also fiine - quite a bit of variety so one can't complain!. We were very impressed with this hotel, it was much better than we had expected and the breakfasts were very good. It was lovely and quiet and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. So close to everything- trains, trams and theatres. Our room was on the corner of the second floor where we might have expected early morning traffic noise but it was really quiet. The guy behind the jump told me when I first got there that parking would only cost me $20 from the point I entered the car park to the time I leave .to my dismay it cost considerably more.aprt from that it was ok. The staff were fabulous, very friendly. The room was compact but very nice. All experiences with Customer Service were fantastic, I work in customer service and was very pleasant to receive such wonderful service no matter where in Melbourne. Great value for money, nice touches with slippers and robes. Breakfast was great and was included in our accom price which was excellent, made the hotel even better value. Location was great, liked that it was tucked away on a quiet strip. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The hotel is located within the CBD and within easy walking distance to many of the tourist attractions in the CBD. There are also lots of small restaurants close by for lunch and dinner. The room was spacious (we stayed in a superior king room) and the bathroom modern and clean. It's location was very central which saved us a lot of time as we weren't there for long but had heaps to do. Very clean and tidy. The staff were helpful, out tv was crappy so they moved us to another room at an instant it was great!. My wife and i have stayed at Causeway Inn on The Mall a few times but the room at 353 is a bit more upmarket , very comfortable and the breakfast was great . The convenience of the hotel was ideal for walking around the town and it was also close to the mall and public transport. The staff were very friendly. It was well priced with the convenience of breakfast included. Nice hotel, all the facilities you need, great price and breakfast included. Good location, very central to all the shops. Make sure you get the right Causeway as there are 3 different ones!. The location was the real bonus point, being situated right in the middle of the city, with shops and restaurants on your doorstep. In spite of this, it was quiet at night. Lovely to be greeted and be told you have been up graded had a huge king size bed which was so comfy if i could have gotten it out the window to take home i may have tried. Room did not appear to have been vacuumed in that time. (even once would have been good). Nothng - all good. The pillows - terrible. Too minor to mention. The overall finish of the room was average - chipped furniture, marks on walls, really dirty windows that made the average view even worse. Shower pressure was weaker than what we would have liked, but this is only a minor flaw. There was nothing to dislike. I know the hotel can't change this but the somewhat untidy dingy laneway you had to access to reach the hotel. It was rather untidy after the few little restaurants closed at night and a bit spooky. A couple of really nice pots with plants would look nice at the entrance to the hotel. The shower floor in the open-plan bathroom did not drain very well. None. My daughters diamond necklace was in her handbag that we left in room whilst out, on rising the next morning my daughter went to put necklace on and it was missing. We did report to hotel but have not heard anything yet. The hotel will probably say we should have put it in the safe however we did envisage someone going through our bags. If I was to be really picky our triple share room had a disabled bathroom, the problem was the water from the shower went all over the bathroom floor, had to use all of our towel as a block for this as the floor is basiaclly all flat, made the floor a bit slippery to go into the bathroom. Horrible pillows! Felt sorry for reception staff having to wear those terrible uniforms (unflattering for larger girls particularly) especially in the dark backdrop they are working in. No blowdryer for hair. The doona/quilt was way too hot for comfortable sleeping. I had hoped to find a blanket in the wardrobe so that i could have changed the bedding to be more comfy. We were a little disappointed with the included breakfast options. The same food was served up daily. However always warm and constantly filled, we were expecting more of a variety (bacon/eggs) etc. Front of house staff un friendly avoided any diplomacy etc, manners etc... except a women with colored hair she was pleasant but others not so great....Sorry!. We booked a twin room and the beds were single and quite small (but comfortable). Room a little small and cramped for space. Rooms a bit small, but still very comfortable. No negative comments. The breakfast could have had more choices of fresh fruits. I thought the room was very shabby with marks on the walls, scuffed furniture and stains on the carpet. I also thought that the service from the counter staff was poor. The staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming and I thought their appearance was unprofessional. Their uniforms did not fit properly and did not look particularly clean. There was nothing we could fault. It would have been nice if the restaurant was open for dinner at night. There are no outward looking windows so can be claustrophobic especially if two people in double and no bar or restaurant coffee shop in house. Our room was clean and modern but unfortunately there was a smell that greeted us each time we opened the door. It smelt almost like cigarettes or stale air. The only minuses was the shower that refused to drain quickly and the fact that the bed was only pulled up each day and not made properly despite staying and paying same rate for six nights!. Air con was not easy to adjust. Breakfast included was a bit basic for how much it added to the room rate, would have preferred no breakfast for a cheaper rate. There wasn't anything that l didn't like. It was all good. Thank you. King sized bed took up all the space - barely room for seats to sit and watch TV or read. Servicing of the room on the second day was not up to standard but apart from that all OK. The breakfast was adequate, though with so many alternatives literally on the doorstep, it would have been nice not to have to breakfast included in the price. The atmosphere in the basement breakfast room was reminiscent of a student canteen. Having said all that, the fresh fruit and pastries were replenished regularly. The croussants were good. Perhaps I should not have expected anything else in a relatively inexpensive hotel in an expensive city. No windows at breakfast but when its in the basement i understand. Carpet bit too dark with dark furniture. Was intermittent ?ringing sound which woke us , but otherwise rooms nice & quiet.
