With a change of plans we were readily accommodated with a change of rooms. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything was to our liking and then left us alone to enjoy our stay. I would highly recommend the Golden Sands to anyone. It is around the corner from the main street and restaurants and across the road from the beach, yet quiet enough to feel isolated. We were allowed in to the room we had booked early which was very much appreciated. The room itself was basic which is what we ordered. We dont travel and use Motels very much , however we were comfortable.
all reviews » I was part of a large group staying in their caravans at Foster Beach Van park, so the location suited me perfectly. You get what you pay for and everything was fine with friendly staff. The motel was very close to the beach. When we asked if we could rent towels for the beach, we received a couple of towels someone had left for free, which was really nice. We were given an upgrade because of noisy works being done in part of the motel which meant that my two adult daughters and I had a room each. Much appreciated. Both of the managers were very hospitable and friendly and if i was in the area again would definitely stay there. Location, location, location - walking distance to shops, hotel, bridge, lake, surf, restaurants. The proximity to the beach and the fact the room was serviced daily. Great value for money too. Hotel was a reasonable price and staff friendly room was small but clean and comfortable. Forster is an excellent location for a holiday. The Golden Sands Motel is well located. We ordered a room according to price which we have learnt is not the best way to book accommodation. The noise from other guests. Not your fault I understand but as a single lady on my own I was not about to start complaining to my neighbours at 2.30 or 4.ooam. The curtains on the window next to the bed could not be closed completely, so people could look in when walking by. No facilities to cook anything. Nothing. The common areas were not very tidy. We liked it all. Nothing. too much peach. Facilities listed good wireless connection although I found it to be pretty poor. No cutlery in the kitchen and no ice cubes in the freezer!. hot water was very slow in coming. Nothing much. Not having a microwave in the room. I couldn't heat my milk for my milk coffee's. It's not really a dislike but the poor motel is pretty old. noisy people leaving facility at 4.30 am loud talking and car/ diesel motor running for ten mins while car was packed. I wasn't impressed with the parking space in the lane. Ground was very uneven and had difficulty parking on times, especially when another car was parked behind my space and I had to back in between two cars, because of the uneven ground. Also too much noise with trucks emptying their loads early in the morning on the site behind our room. The motel itself was rundown. The restaurant on site was shutdown. Want to use the fridge, turn it on first, if you want milk for your cup of tea in the morning don't look in the fridge cause it isn't in there. The whole place was dodgy down to the hot and cold water handles in the shower being on the wrong side which is not only dangerous, but illegal. This place is waiting to be bulldozed to make way for another high rise resort. The motel was very dated, the pictures on the web site did not truly represent the state of the motel. The restaurant was closed and had been by the look of it for some time. Motel needs renovating. I would not return or recommend it to anyone I knew. Upon arrival being told that my name is unfortunate is hardly a welcome after 8 hours on the road. I've never seen a motel with more restrictions, a bit of overkill one would think. Needless to say we wont be returning. Merry Xmas.
