The pool and patio area, the decor, the items in the rooms were practical, the pillows were comfortable, the beds were comfortable, the price was affordable, this hotel is one of the only places people with more than two children have access to in Darwin, we are country people who come to Darwin for business and recreation purposes. liked the lovely comfy beds & the choice of soft or hard pillows. very clean also that beds were made every day. our room over looking the water was gorgeous. central location enjoyed the quiet area.
all reviews » The staff are trying very hard through the transition from Holiday Inn. A few nice things, a chocolate biscuit warmed on arrival. Efficient front desk staff. Wonderful chef in restaurant. Being close to good restaurants and shops and being able to walk the esplanade. View of the waters was great, although only a small view. Reasonably quiet for a city location. Friendly helpful service, very comfortable beds and linen. Food was excellent. The overall experience was better than value for money. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much bother. We would definitely recommend and use this hotel again. Bed was wonderful. Pillow selection on the bed and didn't have to contact reception for choice. Breakfast was very nice. Friendly welcome and a warm cookie, which was lovely after arriving straight from airport and feeling a bit hungry. Very comfortable beds. Helpful staff at reception & in restaurant. Good location. Excellent Location. the staff made us feel unwanted due to having kids, we were asked for payment by the phone in the middle of a work day after the weekend was over, we thought we had paid when we booked on the thursday before,. didn't like the bathroom needs an upgrade to make it match the rest of the room. Wi Fi charges way too high. No plates in room for that "takeaway" Hot water in shower takes forever to become hot. What a waste of cold water. Not keen on having mini bars in the room as we never use them but like to use the fridge. Only 2 cups and 1 spoon - 1 cup was chipped, put out the door to be collected, but had to ask for the replacement. Not enough normal coffee provided, had to ask for more. No water jug in the fridge. Only bottled water which was part of the mini bar. No free movies - Fox channels were limited. Bathroom needs modernizing. Lights in the bathroom were too dim. Need wine glasses in rooms. Under the beds needed cleaning. Standing in the bath for a shower was a little scary as the bath base didn't feel firm. However we were informed that a complete bathroom refurbishment was to begin within days. This may disrupt guests?. Bathroom doesn't match the rest of the suite. Coming out of the lift was a bit of a let down. The place looks tired and in need for a new paint job. So does the bath room. Overall the hotel could be updated. The photo is the hotel I stayed in but booking was Holiday Inn Darwin 122 Esplanade. Some confusion as another Holiday Inn is next door. Bathroom needs modernising, toilet seat wouldn't stay up. It was fairly expensive but all accommodation in Darwin seems to be like that unless you stay in backpackers. I didn't like the shower in the bath it felt unsafe and uneven underfoot. that I got a tow away threat in the carpark, but wasn't asked about my car on check in. Bathrooms are a bit oldish comparing to bedroom. Chlorine pool at 122 was too chi ally painfully on eyes. Bottom Sheet was ripped on my bed, one light globe in bathroom not working and toiletories not replaced daily. cost,. Thought the bathrooms needed updating toilet flashing buttons didn't look clean. A dirty flannel was left hanging over the shower when we arrived in our room on the first visit. Only a small thing but didn't receive choc cookie on arrival on both check in as advertised. Plumbing to shower. bathroom curtain & only 1 soap in the bathroom. all bathrooms I've been has to have 2 soaps.1 for washing your hand & 1 in the shower. Balcony door jammed. Toilet kept getting stuck and not refilling. Airconditioner wasn't working on my last night. should have free internet access in room instead of 20 minutes at the lounge. Airconditioning was too cold. Bathroom in room was pretty ordinary-hot water took a long time to come through Mouldy strawberries left in fridge!. Slow lifts. No complaints at all. Nothing. rooms a bit aged. The bathroom and toilet were not particularly clean. Had to stay in both Double trees (our fault) but never got the cookie, bar once on checking in (total of 3 check in's) In one room the roller door on the balcony was in very bad order. room 814. The room was very noisy which detracted from the enjoyment of our stay and the servicing of the room was a bit lax. We have stayed at the Holiday Inn (previous name) a couple of times and felt the hotel had become a bit 'sad' since our last visit. There was a mistake made with our room costs which had to be rectified, although the staff member managed this well we are still awaiting confirmation from the hotel of that the bill has been paid in full . Probably would not stay there again. Some parts of the hotel look pretty shabby. Bathroom so-so (I had a bathtub with shower: not the most practical). Too expensive on the whole. Darwin not particularly exciting, though friendly enough. Parts of the hotel were a bit tired, the aircon was too cold even at the highest setting. Delay checking in even though we arrived well after check in time, our room service order was totally stuffed up and then when we left we found a nasty note on our car saying that the vehicle would be towed as we were illegally parked.. Not a great experience for $200 won't stay again... Hotel decor tired. Room said balcony but very small. Air conditioner stopping in the middle of the night. out dated room, no change room after checkout (we had a late flight). we had to walk to another double tree and change and shower at the fitness facilities. surcharge on credit 1,5%. only changing the name from holiday in to double tree makes it a 4*. Darwin is very expensive for holiday makers yet the venue is in need or refreshment ie carpets old, bathrooms outdated. No Sky news available on TV in room only Sky weather channel which not that relevant. Room Service did not provide cutlery with meals. Balcony very small. Wall in bath/shower was mouldy- as was the toilet cistern tank. Did not like to use bathroom Mini Bar way too small. No fresh milk for coffee. Lousy tv. My 1 day cleaning of 1 cardigan took 3 days! Way too far from city centre. Not good value for money. Décor in rooms was all a bit old and tired, and 2 beers in a fridge should not be classified as a mini bar. I have stayed in many Hiltons, this didn't live up to the standard. The price was not suitable to the standard of the hotel. The bathroom was very old. The air con was very loud and could not be turned off. Renovations onsite during my stay, bathroom tired and dated. Cleaners did not come into the rooms at all the 2nd day so bins were not emptied and beds not made. The booking we made with letsbookhotel.com did not work and when we got to the Double tree they had to find ua a room which they did thankfully. Management was not friendly. TV did not work and was not offer anything to replace it. Room service did not leave enough bath towels. The cost was more then I paid in the Sydney CBD for a similar room. They over charged my Mastercard and which has cost me lots of time and phone calls to get them to action and they still have not issued a credit. Could see finger prints all over benches wardrobe and ordered King Size bed and it was a Queen sized bed. Ordered the paper and did not receive it. Shabby ,dirty worn bathroom, mould allover, rooms not cleaned properly (we have seen three of them). Got assigned the wrong (chraper) room type on arrival. Staff tried to make us pay for children whereas hotel policies on letsbookhotel.com state that they are free. The hotel needs a thorough clean. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling,on the light covers in the corridors and air-cond vents were black, totally unbelieveable, definitely a health risk! Also what's the deal with providing a cookie at checkin (by the way we didn't one, not that i would eat anything from there!) There hasn't been many times that I was sooo glad to checkout and this was one of those occasions. Rooms need to refurbished, reception staff not really helpful.
