We received a very warm welcome from owner Bernie, who helped us with local information. The room was very spacious and comfortable, with a very pleasant balcony area, which overlooked the pool and lush gardens. Breakfast was good too, a fair variety of items. A short walk lead to the main shopping area and beaches, but the hotel was far enough away to ensure a good night's sleep on a very comfortable bed. I would definitely go back to Airlie Beach and back to the Colonial Palms hotel.
all reviews Great facilities - lovely pool, washer and dryer and free wifi with a PC in lobby for guests to use and even a printer. We were able to leave our car parked at the hotel during our trip tithe Whitsundays. A nice continental breakfast was included every day and when we had an early departure, we were given a breakfast tray for our room! The staff were very friendly and helpful as was the owner. The hotel has a nice location a bit out of town center which is more quiet in the evening. You walk about 10 minutes to get to town. If you stay there you will meet Bernie, a great guy. He arrange everything for you from nice dinner till Great Barrier Round Flight. But he's not the only friendly one there. Rooms are nice decorated and bright. Lovely, friendly Motor Inn. Two nice pools at either end of the motel in lush surroundings. Reception staff extremely helpful - suggested and booked island sailings. Great value getting breakfast included, they even opened up a little earlier when we were having an early trip pick-up. We booked a double bed room and really liked that it was spacious and clean. Also, the staff was so welcoming and friendly. John was great with delicious recommendations. It is because of the friendly staff that I would highly recommend Colonial Palms Motor Inn to everyone!. I would definitely upgrade your room to a king size bed since they are extremely comfortable and you walk out of your room to a beautiful pool/hottub area. Great breakfast and just a short walk to the main center. Staff could not do enough for you...even let me leave my car there for 3 nights as I stayed before and after our sailing adventure...gave u.s an esky... Restaurant was excellent... Also, their restaurant was surprisingly impressive (I used to work as a cook). Brigid's incredible cooking, best food we ate in the whole of Australia! Bernie for his wide smile and attentive manner, Deidre for her many little helps and John for his wine and robust conversations. I thought the accommodation was great - only stayed one night and was going on a day cruise so didn't get to experience much of the facilities. What I did experience was very good and friendly. John the host was so welcoming and the meal that evening in the restaurant, both the eye fillet and lamb shanks cooked to perfection! wish we had booked for longer, will definitely go back. One pool was out of order and the other was dirty but they were working hard on getting it in shape...all good when we came bac. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing!. Nothing. No comment. We didn't have a car so it was too far out of town to walk in to the bars & restaurants. the breakfast was OK but I think that mybe some bacon or hot food could be included, by and large though it was value for money, the worst part was being woken up by drunken back packers through out the night !!!!. Nothing. Nothing. N/A. Proximity to trafficked road, cold outdoor pools. breakfast staff member sour. The fact that everything in the town was under construction.
