  We were greeted by the owners father on arrival, who filled us in on all the necessary information of the local village Hillsborough and how to get to Belfast.   The hotel is an old coaching inn with a lot of character. We were made to feel very welcome. The room that we had was very large and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent.We can recommend the fruit pancakes.The hotel is a 30 minute drive from Belfast and there is easy access to the surrounding countryside. I told the receptionist about my dilemma and it was not long before they miraculasly found a pair of trousers which amazingly fitted perfectly!!!   We were overwhelmed by the beauty of Astala Lodge along with the location. We stayed four nights and we're lucky to be given one of four front rooms overlooking Bangor Marina (room 11). The staff was friendly and accommodated our late arrival without fuss (naturally we had the presence of mind to call and inform them we were arriving late). Parked right in front.

  We enjoyed our weeks stay at Down Royal House. It was very clean. The owners were very helpful with things to do and how to get around the city. Fresh cooked breakfast every morning was delicious!! Would highly recommend this place.
