  A return visit for 3 nights, after a 16 year gap! The hotel has changed hands since then and is almost unrecognisable from the previous visit. The food and service was excellent. Plenty of choice for the self service buff - I stayed here by myself for 2 nights. I had a standard single room, which was just what I need with plenty of space too. The beds were comfy, tea and coffee making facilities and some delicious homemade shortbread provided too. I felt very welcome from the minute I stepped through the door, especially as it was the first time I'd stayed away on my own. Nice friendly meet and greet. we had our bags carried to our room which was nice. The owner made us some tea and brought it to our room also. The house has been lovingly restored keeping the original features,even the sash windows and shutters are still wooden. Breakfast was freshly cooked and hot. We would definitely recommend staying here to anybody.
