  My husband and I loved staying here. We have't relaxed as much as we did here for years. The owners were a delightful, friendly couple who were attentive yet left you to relax (which we did in the lovely lounge where a roaring fire welcomed us). The breakfast and evening meal were both perfect and the overall standard of the hotel was exceptional ... vad folk säger » (I don't think I've been in a cleaner bathroom). Excellent location for a book day in Hay or a ramble in the Brecon Beacons. Highly recommended - we w - Welcoming, friendly and considerate owners. Room had rather an old fashioned feel, in keeping with the coaching inn pedigree, but the bed was very comfortable. No TV but there was a bedside radio which is always a plus. The hotel has a luxurious guest lounge to sit and read in. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent.

  we couldn't fault the Plough and Harrow. The owners were lovely, very helpful. The pub was quiet, clean and cosy and the food was very good. We loved the dog JJ who was a real character. All in all a fantastic break away in a beautiful setting and we had fantastic weather to cap it all. The location was perfect, it was close to all the attractions of the Brecon beacon I.E. pen y fan. I would recommend this b&b to anyone who wanted to visit the Brecon Beacons.   This is a very olde worlde Tudor timbered building with loads of character in a beautiful country setting. The very old door into our bedroom was about 5ft high, I am 6ft 3in but this only added to the interest and the on suite room itself was clean, spacious and comfortable with nice views from the windows. The staff were all friendly and helpful. - Beautiful 15th century building. Small and cosy. You walk into cosy lounge with roaring fire, lovely! Staff so helpful,polite and friendly. Lovely afternoon tea/sandwiches/soups. lovely meals/breakfast. If you like small and cosy, this is the place. Beautiful grounds/views and 5mins from Newtown by car. Really lovely place to relax and would return. I was in main building, there are seperate quarters in the grounds.

  Stayed for a weekend and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fixtures and fittings in this cosy bijou cottage. The underfloor heating was a bonus to come back to after the chill of the December weather. I liked the fact that the living/ dining and bedroom are had d - The cottage was warm and inviting after a long day out on the hills it was clean, very spacious and had everything we needed for a cosy night in. the views in the morning were stunning, a very enjoyable stay.

  The hotel is set in a nice location convenient to Hay-on-Wye and the Black Mountains. The staff were excellent. They were friendly as well as efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for them and made a nice stay even more special. The Dining Room experience was great. Shower in ensuite was powerful easy to adjust and water temperature perfect. Soft towelling robes supplied was a very nice touch .

  The setting is idyllic, with wonderful views across the lake. A great venue for lovers of nature & wildlife, and particularly good for birdwatching. We also liked the fact that restaurant and Bar food was available, both with a view on the lake - we only tested the Bar which was excellent. The room, with both shower and huge bath tub, extra large and firm bed - we had an excellent night sleep. Fantastic view on the lake.
