Staff brilliant - nothing too much trouble for them and all done very willingly with smile. They all knew the history of the hotel and were able to answer all questions.   We were upgraded to a junior suite which was lovely. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and there were touches of luxury such as the ample supply of Elemis toiletries in the bathroom and on the dressing table. The towels and bathrobes were white and fluffy and the bedding was Egyptian cotton. Welcomed by Judith the owner and shown to the room, both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Judith and all the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel itself is like something out of a Conan Doyle story - ornate Victoriana and more or less tasteful chintz; a little overpowering at first sight but certainly impressive. The room was very well appointed and catered for all our needs, eg air con, large comfortable bed, plasma screen and very quiet at night. Also a beautiful ensuite. Excellent buffet breakfast and the staff were very efficient and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

This hotel is in an excellent location quite near the main street with shops, bars etc. Also it is beside the bus station which allows you to easily get to Cheshire Oaks outlet park and Chester Zoo.
