I marked romance/honeymoon to describe this hostel in a light-hearted way to bring up a notable feature about its North Beach location: situated at the foot of San Francisco's red light district on Broadway, the Europa hotel and hostel sits directly above a strip club! Travelors should find the location ideal during the daytime, central to both Little Italy and Chinatown, mere blocks from tourist spots, fine restaurants and parks, as well as Muni bus lines leading to every corner of the City. The staff are excellent, they always treat me with dignity and respect
and the Europa is now my official choice of stay whenever i'm in San
Francisco. No outrageous deposits and even booked my airport shuttle
without any hassle. My number one recommendation for any budget traveler
who wants to stay somewhere in the city that is safe, clean and
comfortable. Thanks to the Europa staff you guys are the greatest, and I
will see you the next time I am in town.
The staff was very great. My room was spacious & clean. I was lucky
enough to find this hostel for my trip. It's in a great bohemian
style neighbourhood in north beach. With city lights & cafe Tristae
around the corner. Thank you Europa hotel.
The interior was just great for this price and location can accommodate you with comfort in San Francisco. Young promising Hostel Europa is undergoing some repair work, more good changes are to be seen!.
Being new to the city the man who ran the front desk showed us all the
places to go on the map and how to get there as well as spots to leave
our car for free! Amazing service!.
room was very clean. I had a private bathroom which had been remodeled and was great. unbelievably quiet for being at broadway and Columbus streets. would come back anytime.
It was amazing! The poor guy who worked there actually searched all over the hotel for a microwave for us to use... They were so hardworking. Will def book there again!.
Great central location, really good. It is old & tired but clean, tidy and if your not too fussed with luxury it is an absolute bargain. Really enjoyed my stay.

The location is excellent. We were in the city to see Beach Blanket
Babylon and wanted a hotel close that didn't break the bank. The
price is low for the area where you'll either pay a lot, or pay for
a place like this that is fine, comfortable, and a place to sleep. I was
concerned at first when I saw the place was under construction, but we
were never disturbed by it. We never heard any annoying noises.

Locations is too nice for example you can walk from hotel to china town,

It was very cheap, and in a good location. It simply cannot be beaten on price. It doesn't feel at all dodgy or unsafe. It was reasonably quiet.
Place was within walking distance of the cool spots. Hotel was
reasonably priced. I would stay there again if I go to the city again.
The location was close to the center and the bus stopped right outside (handy) the staff were friendly and helpful.

The price y awsome but you have to know that no one will clean the room, you have to do it by yourself, if you are finding a hotel where you can just sleep and be outside all day long its ok.
Cheap price, close location to all major attractions (you can actually walk to most of them within 10 minutes), clean shared bathrooms, spacious rooms, tv and a sink in the room.
The location on Columbus avenue was good if you can get past the strip clubs and homeless people peeing on the wall outside the door.

needed wifi for work, hotel offered free wifi.. only works by the ooffice, not in the room. Very annoying. room needed more light, no natural light got in cause a tree was outside the window, and the light in the room was so dim I couldnt do my makeup.. and the bathroom has no mirror.

We killed a couple of bugs in our room, and from reading other reviews
it looks like that is an issue. I didn't get any bites, though as I
was keeping an eye out for them. The sink was not in our bathroom, but
in the actual bed room portion; that's weird, but doesn't really
matter in the long run. The hotel was under construction so maybe this
issues will be solved when it is done.
Showers and toilets are common in the hall.
There wasn't the mirror in the bathroom; the shower was flooding water, under the bed it was very dirty and there were all the dust of the recent renewance.
Unfortunatly it could be a very nice place to stay but it is not kept clean!.
Guests are loud They do not store your bags past 4pm.
Free Park area is worse problem at san fransisco so ı you have car , you
should be patient because there isnt park area , eurapa is not much
clean , and there isn't free parking area.
It was the most primitive accommodation I have ever stayed in; it is like something straight out of the fifties.
Charged me to leave my bag at the front desk for a few hours after
checkout, need to do a better job maintaining the property. It doesnt
cost alot of money to paint the hallway or change the carpet. The wood
fixtures need to be sanded down and painted so it doesnt look like it
has been painted over 100 times. I would also remove the hallway carpet
and install tiles or marble.
It was quite noisy at night with music coming from the pub or club next door and the shower room flooded wile we were there (but the is another one available to use).

The Europa is a cheap one star hotel at best, one star up from camping
in the parks because the showers are hot and the beds are clean.
Don't have any high expectations and it will suit you fine.

Although the location is very convenient, it is quite noisy. Furthermore guest really should not intent to smoke inside the building. Highly sensible smoke detectors at 3:00am is not very pleasant!.

A small rat in my room. I trapped it in a trash bin with food and after the rat got in i put the bin outside my room. Wifi can't reach my room, they should add wifi extender.

The room looked like a torture dungeon. I was worried for bed bugs. Now I know I have to expect such things in a very inexpensive room. I can't necessarily blame the hotel because you should expect such things.
