What people say
Loved Chicago from the Navy Pier to the museums, the variety of entertainment, the walk-ability of the city, Millennium park, loved it all. The bed was comfortable, and the bed linens were good quality and soft. The room was nicely furnished except for a strange plastic, snake-skin covered wing back chair. The bathroom was nice, but the vanity is too small to accommodate toiletries well, and there's no where else to set them except in the floor. A table or another place for toiletries would h. all reviews »
Hotel Sax was right in Marina City. There was a little grocery store
close by. Several restuarants within walking distance including
Chicago's House of Blues and Dick's last resort. I was great to
walk just a few steps and look at the Chicago river flowing by. I loved
and and will go there again.
Staff was friendly, the hotel was in the perfect location in the near river north area of Chicago. We would recommend this hotel to anyone either for a fun weekend in the city or a business person needing to be in the middle of downtown.
Beautiful property, very helpful staff, perfect location. Close enough
to start line for the Chicago Marathon, but far enough away so that my
family could escape the hotel during the race to do some sightseeing.
The service was excellent. Staff was always ready to give recommendations and directions. We had an issue with the AC and they fixed it within minutes. Good value for the price.
I loved the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well set up. The room had everything that was needed for a perfect nights stay.
I requested a handicap room and got that! Room was very large, had a
nice view of street and area. It was very clean, bed comfortable.
Excellent, premium location. Very friendly staff. Nice and spacious rooms, particularly the toilet. Breakfast ok.
it is very close to everything in the loop either by walk or the L-train. Staff is very friendly and helpful!.
The staff upon check in was very friendly. I think "Anna" was her name. The room was large and quiet.
Loved the size of the room
Loved the decor of the room
Loved the layout and size of bathroom.
Friendly staff. Great location. Very nice room. Complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby.
Reception staff were very helpful and a restaurant on site was
convenient for breakfast.
Excellent bed linens, very comfortable bed. Proximity to Merchandise Mart. Quiet.
The location is great. Very close to everything. Room is clean and cozy.
Location is great for shopping, dining and sightseeing.
Location, decor, universally helpful and friendly staff.

Location was great so convenient. Staff couldn't be more helpful and Friendly. Check in and or was easy and really quick.
Very central in Chicago downtown, close to attractions.
The staff was wonderful, kind, and accommodating.
Location is good, and rooms have a good design.
Room was spacious, allowed early check in.
Location, Bar.
Loved the location of the hotel. Close to shopping and dinning.
Location.
Really spacious updated rooms. Easily could sleep a large group in the king room. Will be my first choice for my trips to Chicago.
The bell staff and the security guard were very friendly and helpful. The concierge and desk staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming, although they were helpful enough when asked. We didn't have a 'Do Not Disturb' doorhanger, so we learned the hard way that cleaning starts very early in the morning.
In any hotel that I have ever stayed in the total price is given when
booking. I booked this hotel for three nights and the total was supposed
to have been $574.00 and some change. When checking out it was $674.00
and I had been charged for eating the food that is put in the room. The
kind staff did take those charges off, remember we went to the store
close by for snacks. I think that they should add in the taxes like all
other hotels, so that it won't be such a shock when checking out.
Expensive... Especially the valet parking ($65/night!). No swimming
pool for kids... Not a big deal, but something to note. No microwave or
fridge in room... Just the honor bar. That's difficult to use for
milk for a baby, or if anyone has medicine that requires refrigeration.
They bought a lot of modern furniture but none of it matches. Our bathroom seemed rather old and there was a shower curtain being used as a closet door. Hotel looks a lot more impressive online than in person. Still a good value for the price.
The price of parking was ridiculous. I believe it should be a tad less for patrons of the hotel for an overnight stay. I did not like that by 930am the housekeeping staff had knocked on my door 3 times and woke my family up.
Being handicapped, I was dismayed that I had to walk 110 steps from the
elevator to my room to the last door on the floor. There also was not
enought light in my room. It was difficult to do makeup etc. I had
trouble accessing the tv.
The interior design is a little bit burlesque: strong colors mixed together, old chandeliers, etc. a bit outdated.
Elevators are slow.
no breakfast included with room.
The resturant attached to the hotel was TERRIBLE! Rude staff and slow service.
The water stain on the ceiling in the room
The feather bed that was covering the bed, it made it very difficult to sleep in the bed because of the extreme amount of heat it caused
Difficult to control the tv with remote/ tv program used for accessing the tv stations.
Complimentary tea and coffee could have been available longer.
I had to cancel my first two nights. I understood that my booking was a
non refundable one but I hoped the hotel might offer a reduction since I
let them know well in advance but I was charged the full amount.
$18/day for internet with poor internet service.
Employees who refused to make coffee before 6 am, even though several people were up and inquiring.
Stingy towel service. Drapes in need of repair.
No free wifi.
Internet was$18 a day or $25 for 2 days- this is not a typo. It was free
in the lobby on their computers.
That I had only a one day stay.
I thought it was expensive.
$18/Day Internet fee, Lounge not great.
There was no in-room coffee maker. The bathroom had only a pedestal sink with NO counter or shelf.
$18 for Wifi(in most hostels and bars its free).
No pool.
View from our room.
The hotel should have a free internet zone. Recommandation: the Lounge could serve espressos and croissants in the morning (no big deal, juste a place to hang out outside the room).
1. No Coffee in rooms.
2. Has wine bottle, but no bottle opener.
3. Room card required in elevator - very clumsy.
Having to pay for Internet access - this is a huge minus for me. I usually would have booked another hotel that provides internet free of charge.
Outdated furniture. Room set up for 1 guest when 2 were booked.
Got charged for mini bar but thought it was complementary.
Hotel rooms had odd fittings ie upside down lampshade on one side of bed and a different one on the other. Advertised game room was closed for renovation but didn't say so on website.
Parking was only valet an 62 USD per day!!!
Internet was additional Charge of 19,95 USD / 24 hours
No breakfast!.
The room seemed "beat up" and dated. I also had a pretty good
dent in my car when I picked it up for departure. It stayed in the
garage all weekend and had only 600 miles on it as I just bought it the
day before we came to chicago. I know the dent was not made by me.
Cost is high, especially when you include the garage parking. Just simply expensive for the type of hotel it is.
Rooms were a bit dated, peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles, mold in the shower. Expect more for the price.
Internet charge, check in issue with city tax not being included in letsbookhotel.com total price. Having stayed before the hotel needs restoration, ceiling of bathroom was heavily stained for example.
Didn't feel like the hotel was all that for $175 a night. Also hated
the fact that I had to pay $57 per night to park my car at hotel. I gues
its the norm for every hotel downtown to charge for parking.
Too much money for amenities offered.
extremly bad relation between price, comfort and service level.
