What people say
We had a wonderful room with a triple aspect of the beach. It was well decorated and spacious The staff were cheerful, friendly and eager to help - nothing was too much trouble. The food produced in the bar was a delight cooked to perfection, particularly yummy were the scallops with a thermidor sauce and their creamy calves liver. The hotel was right on the beach and the walk along the Esplanade was lovely and the day spent a Connaught gardens a relaxing time. There were also plenty of shop. all reviews »
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfasts and lunches
were very good indeed, good quality food and thoughtful presentation.
The beds were very comfortable, as were the pillows and the shower was
adequate. The owners had done a good job at modernising the inside of
the hotel and the standard of cleanliness was superb.
beautiful large room and top class en-suite. Table and chairs on a balcony overlooking the sea.Water that filled a bath quickly a shower that worked, hot water any time of the day. Lovely staff. No noise from other room guests. Wonderful food. Right on the doorstep of quaint town and all fasillities.
Very comfotable, very friendly, helpful staff. All could speak english,
please keep it that way. I do not return to Hotels where the majority of
staff are non-British as in London, because it makes my generation feel
alienated! Nice to have jams &butter in dishes.
Friendly welcome, staff most helpful.
Very good food on 'curry night'.
Will certainly look forward to a revisit.
Must say though not keen on lighting in restaurant area of bar, too cold looking, lacking in ambience though like the decor,

I travelled with my elderly father and the staff were extremely helpful to us on all occasions, even changing my father's room for him. On leaving my car was cleaned for us as it was covered with gull droppings, not asked for nor expected but very welcomed!.
The staff in this family run hotel were efficient and friendly, we had a problem with our return journey due to transport problems and the receptionists went out of their way to make sure we were ok.
A warm welcome with complimentary tea or coffee. Comfortable room with great sea view. Excellent location for coast and town. Good breakfast choices. Best value for money I have enjoyed in Sidmouth.
The hotel was very clean and smart. We had a room with four windows that overlooked the sea. The restaurant was ver good, we enjoyed our evening meal and the breakfast very much.
Lovely room with a sea view and a bath/toiletries. Good choice of
food in the Restaurant and a Lounge to relax in. We were warmly welcomed
and could park in their small car park.
We paid a little extra for a balcony and seaview and it was worth it. The evening meals excellent and all staff very friendly. Ideal location for town centre, seafront and buses.
Cleanliness of whole hotel.
Excellent quality food with efficient, polite and courteous waiting staff.
Comfortable room, bed, chairs and lounge area.
The beds were comfortable. The evening meal was excellent and also the breakfast.

Friendly staff and good service.
The welcome and helpful staff.
Location, very good room.
Location on the seafront.
Decor location breakfast.
Friendly helpful staff.
Friendly and homely.
All of it was good.
The hotel's position is excellent, on the seafront, and our room had a large, pleasant balcony. No complaints about the food, staff very helpful and pleasant. Hall and lounge attractive.
Location was walking distance to both sea & town.
excellent room and location plus good breakfast.
Location was good, very helpful staff.
Location.
Clean and central.
I had to leave the idyll.
There was limited car parking, and the lounges were a bit bleak feeling.
Had it been bad weather or winter I might have preferred them to feel a
bit more cosy, especially as I had taken my elderly mother who stayed in
quite a lot. Wi fi connection was not available in most parts of the
hotel, we get a bit used to " being connected", but it
didn't matter in the scale of things.
Out side paintwork looked a bit tired and in need of a freshen up.
Very limited car parking space on a fist come basis. Really expensive to park overnight in local carpark adjacent.
Cooked breakfast good but cold table needs fresh fruit and muesli,--
cereal in containers please , not packets.Possibly some cheese
available.Juice poor quality.
Can't think of anything.
the late start for evening meals which was 7pm, this did not suit us as we wished to go to the Theatre twice during the week.
Parking is tight and the Bedford Square car park opposite is expensive overnight even though it is almost empty. Polyester pillows disappointing.
More information on what to see, times etc. There was a concert in the
Church on our 1st night which we found out by accident and heard the
second half. The Lift would be fine if everyone closed the gate as
requested!!!.
A minor gripe but the bathroom and shower rather small and dated.
Was unable to turn the radiator down in the bedroom.
Elevator unpredictable. Needs to be upgraded to a more modern model.
Lack of car parking may be an issue.
Going home!.
We visited in February during the off-season so the town was a bit sleepy but it looks like it would be a lot of fun come warmer weather.
Lots of stairs and dodgy lift.
The hotel is a little tired particularly outside and the tables in the dining room by the windows were very cold.
Nothing.
Lack of parking.
No hotel car park.
Lack of car parking facilities.
Pop music being played during breakfast.
Not enough powerpoints in room quite pricey.
Party in the evening so not much space to hVe a drink.
I can think of nothing I didn't like.
Lack of car parking.
Room described as Premier was small and ordinary, with no extra comforts as provided in Premier rooms in other hotels. Coffee and biscuit provision mean, uncomfortable chairs, and appalling lighting - none over the dressing table. Poor quality towels. Small TV. Ancient lift. Dreary dining room with cramped layout of tables.
Room desciption inaccurate, booked a sea view but it was actually a side sea view. From inside the room you were overlooking a car park. The room itself was otherwise very nice. One of the reception staff was quite pompous when i questioned this. I personally think the desciption should be amended and she wasn't happy when I said this. She certainly was not customer friendly!!.
checking in,had to remind person checking us in to give us keys and no direction to our room was offered. For the price paid this was poor and i am sure the owners would be disappointed.
Room was a bit tired, although beds very comfy, lighting was terrible, could do with some table lamps. Bathroom needs updating.
Limited facilities and older property.
Not easy to find your way about in the hotel. Stairs not well signposted. Lift was a very old 3 person maximum and difficult to operate lift, particularly if you are elderly.
price and room size.
