When we arrived at the hotel we were greated at reception by happy friendly staff. The quality and presentation of the hotel was outstanding. My husband and I only stayed for one night but it was a very pleaurable stay in a beautiful clean and spacious room. Breakfast was very nice and certainly set us up for a good start to the day. If we return to Ipswich we would definatley book a stay at The Salthouse Harbour again.

All the staff were impeccably turned out, polite and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower was lovely and powerful. The bed was massive!!! The bedding was clean and fresh.Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic location with great views of the harbour. Our room, facilities and the food was all superb. Would certainly stay here again. The views from my room were great, looking on to the harbour. The style of the room was very modern but extremely comfortable and tastfully decorated.Friendly helpful staff; comfortable attractive and well appointed room; excellant service. This is such an individual and quirky hotel, with its exposed brickwork and metal support beams and columns.It was as refreshing as the sea breeze from the marina outside! Poor car parking facilities.The outside of the hotel was very deceptive. Customer care could have been better at the breakfast. not knowing that the lounge was not in use. a bit noisy in the mornings, internet route planners and sat navs take you to the wrong address when using post code. lack of exercise room. The last time I stayed there, we had a large flat screen TV in our room, this time however it was a smaller normal TV, very good selection of channels though!. Breakfast was stingy and room service was £5 per sandwich. poor parking, not secure. The food was average for a 4* hotel. Super furniture in the rooms but no drawers - just a couple in a desk would do - and the room was in need of another lamp to brighten a rather dull corner.Personally I would also provide some coasters for the mugs used for tea and coffee as I would hate to see the lovely wood surfacesruined!. The bed was very uncomfortable, too hard for my liking. could do with having a fridge/mini bar in room to keep drinks cool overnight. No air conditioning in room, very noisy from pub next door late at night, had to close windows and it was too warm. room size, felt a little cramped, though no real problem for just the weekend.room was very hot, no air con. Little noisy due to pub next door. Very warm in the room, no air conditioning, therefore had to have window open, thus the noise from next door until the early hours. Then early in the morning, next door emptying their bottle skip was awakening !. They give you the impression that the photo shows the room you will get..the photo shows a suite not a normal room. yeah the fact tha I didnt get a room I wanted, and was not given the opportunity to book elsewhere, I go there once a month, if I am going to book that often, I want to know my requests are being dealt with, not wait until I arrive when I have no other choicce but to stay. There was a problem with the water supply to our room on our first morning which made washing a problem. Very cramped parking. Brasserie lacks atmosphere and food expensive. There was no lounge or seated bar area. Bedroom carpet could have done with a good clean, looky shabby relative to the rest of the decor. No aiconditioning and with windows have to be open, loudest late night pub in Ipswich right next door...not much sleep possible. Hard beds. Nobody at the desk to do check and no way to attract attention. Had to go in the restaurant for help. View from the side room - front facing rooms have to be booked direct with the hotel with a supplement payable.

By Car
From London (on the A12):
- You will come to a roundabout on the outskirts of Ipswich (Toys R Us is in front of you).
- Turn right onto the A14 towards Felixstowe.
- Take the first turning off of the a14 to Ipswich and Worstead (A137).
- Head for Ipswich town centre.
- After approximately 1.5 miles you will come to a series of roundabouts, continue towards the town centre.
- At the traffic lights, get in the outside lane and go straight across and over a river bridge.
- Stay in the outside lane and go straight to the first roundabout and take the second exit at the next roundabout (turning to the right on the A1022, Star Lane).
- Stay in the outside lane, and a church will be on your right-hand side.
- Continue on the outside lane and follow the brown and white tourist information signs to the Salthouse Hotel.

From the East (A14 - Bury St Edmunds):
- Do not take Ipswich West or the Ipswich Central, A12 London turning; stay on the A14. Take the next turning (A137) for Ipswich and Worstead and head for Ipswich town centre.
- Follow as above.
