Breakfast was perfectly cooked, the staff were very polite, the hotelwas clean and well kept and the location was just perfect. Personal atmosphere, friendly,helpful staff. When we arrived there was no-one in hotel and we were given an entry code to retrieve our key - worked ok but if didn't we were abit in a pickle as needed to phone them. Also having to leave by 10 is a bit early . Free parking - while free not that easy to find a space - we had to park 2 blocks away. If want comfort and to relax not the ideal spot. Good for a quick stop over - breakfast was nice.fairly expensive especially during the new year's eve time. Only down side was not 24 hour reception and no facility to leave baggage on day of departure. Very small rooms. worthless matrass with springs actually poking you in the backside, should have been replaced years ago! (but this could off course be just the one room we stayed in). Only the price -but it was the rugby weekend so every hotel in Edingburgh gad put prices up 50%.I was on the second floor and I couldnt connect to the wifi. We were on the top floor - at the end of the day it was tiring to climb up the stairs.
