The hotel quality is great. Huge beds - everything well maintained and good quality. Breakfast was good - lots of choice. Great bar attached to the hotel. Good central location in easy walking distance of the train station and other bars and restaurants. Staff very good and helpful. We were upgraded to a suite, which was fantastic. The hotel overall is superb; well situated, very well appointed, and with friendly helpful staff. Highly recommended, we will be back next Christmas!.

I stay in many...it is rare to find this level of equipment, comfort, design, cleanliness, and overall just brilliant atmosphere in a hotel for this price. Nice and clean rooms,simple but beautifully decorated, well heated.veryhelpful staff, rich breakfast with great variety. Great situation in theheart of the city. No noise at all. Fast services.friendly attitude of staff. particularly allowing to keep our luggage after the checkout time. we could finish our job and take the belongings safely with warmth. This was the first time we had stayed there and found it to be pleasurable experience. Staff very friendly. Although the staff were very accommodating the ramping of the front door would have been very easy to do and would have enhanced my independence.Local hosteliers emptying beer bottles into bins early in morning. It does say on the website that most of the rooms have views of the castle or forth of firth.however it doesn't have views of either which is a bit misleading.other than that it was perfect.The only (very small) complaint is that there was nowhere in the room to dock my ipod. It would have been nice to be able to play our music. The only thing that I can think of was the air conditioning. It seemed to take an eternity to actually warm up. The room was fairly chilly when we arrived, so we put the air con onto 28c, and even though the a/c was on for a good few hours - it never got 28c hot in the room, more like 22ish max. However this didn't really affect our outlook on this fabulous hotel. There was slight confusion about the room rate although this was quickly sorted. Lack oof parking. The Greenside Car Park is quite a distance, the discount there is not generous. There needs to be at least more access at the hotel front for unloading and loading luggage.There didn't appear to be in a mini bar? I may be wrong but this meant we had to call room service late at night for drinks and were charged £2.50 for each request on top of the price of the drinks ( the drink itself was actually cheaper than the service charge) If possible a mini bar would have been helpful. The usual problems for a woman using a hotel designed by and for men, i.e. wonderful bathroom but no space for make-up; lighting of other mirrors too poor for make-up; spy-hole in door too high; safe in poorly-lit area so can't even read buttons without lying on floor! Didn't complain at time as problem common to all hotels, and I enjoyed my stay.Yes - our room was facing the busy street and over the bar....it was sonoisy until 3:30 am and we couldn't sleep. We were also too warm whilesleeping and if we opened the window....it was too noisy. Very nicehotel but did not sleep because of the location of our room. There could be more furniture in bathroom for dressing gownsclothes etc.Parking was an issue. The recommended carpark was a 15 minute walk from the hotel and was very expensive even with the hotel discount. The drinks in the bar were a bit pricey and the cocktails were unusuall wouldn't reccommend them.One night in a room overlooking scaffolding and a noisy machine, but wechanged for second night.a ll fine then. I thought it inappropriate tobe asked to choose and pay for our choice of breakfast before we sawwhat was on offer!!!.
