lovely hotel and clean and well kept gardens to the front, easy access to promenade along front, staff very helpfull and friendly, food very good, nice veiws, a short drive from glasgow and 20 min ferry ride gets you there, if you are looking for beautiful scenic drives,walking or island hopping then dunoon will do you well. We loved the setting, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, the 'cheesy' but enjoyable and fun Scotland night, the welcoming, friendly and efficient staff, the food and the price/costs. Overall, we were very impressed and quite surprised with the quality of everything.

Great location and the friendly helpful staff and good evening entertainment .we enjoyed our stay and would stay at the esplanade again. everything satisfactory staff and management helpful and very friendly would recommend this hotel to everyone. Nice easy walk into town. friendly staff, central location. parking area at rear bit untidy so did not get good first impression on arrival so was nicely suprised once in hotel, the little town of dunoon was not great could do with a lick of paint very driech as they say in scotland. The owners seem to be getting around to upgrading parts of the hotel and the lounge/bar areas could do with a revamp especially the chairs but overall there was nothing significant we didn't like. Having to leave at the end of our stay!. Cooked breakfast was served with everything on the plate ---whether you wanted beans or not!!!. Showers were poor and some of the decor needs to be updated it looks a little tired in some places . no dislikes. bit quiet. Entertainment at night noisy if it's not your kind of thing - most people loved it though Mostly cater's for an older group of traveller - which is fine Lock the beachside door at 11.30pm - don't understand why Check out staff could be a bit friendlier. Drinks prices. No simple bar food available and parking was a little inconvenient. Single room on ground floor [305]was very noisy during the night and entrance after 11pm meant unlocking reception door in a poorly lit area to rear of hotel Reception closed until 8am and I had to leave at 7am by leaving room key on unsecured counter. In need of a wee bit of decoration. We went for a meal & the dining room was almost empty but when we asked for a sea view table we were told it was booked & nobody sat at the table & the manager was not very nice to the staff. Needed upgraded. Breakfast poor. Entertainment lounge quite untidy, with chairs shoved in corners. Definitely not welcoming. rooms were like a flashback to the 70's! and very cramped.
