Good place to chill out and relax watching the river boats go by. It is definitely one of the best places to stay at in Bangkok as it is quiet by the riverside and you can relax and chat and drink beer with the other travellers. The place consists of a wooden building over the water and has a big open hut area that you can sit and relax in. We stayed in cheaper 450 baht room and it is basic but comfortable. This is no 5 star but more than adequate for what we required. It is very close to Kao.
all reviews » This place is great. I'm not really sure much else can be said. The price, the people, the location. I maybe would have passed it over if it hadn't been on the suggestion of a friend, but I'm so glad that I listened to him, as I don't think I would have had a better time anywhere else in BKK. The common area makes it easy and comfortable to get to know people from around the world, so it's great for solo travelers. Twice during my five nights there, the owner, Jane, cooked dinner for anyone who. Every thing was good.... Very nice staff.. Good location you can see the river and the bridge....very peaceful @ night. And there is bbq and free fruits.the owner ms jane is very friendly and cooks for the guest, you can just share a little bit money and you can eat at the same time. Much cheaper compared eating outside. I even lost my watch and they found it and give it back to me... Its just like your in your own home away from home......i will definitely stay here again......... Jane (the owner) makes everyone SO welcome. I stayed at the beginning of my trip and I took friends back at the end, all of which loved it as much as me. We cooked together with fresh food from the local market, and the view over the river is awesome. It's a bit cooler and quieter as well but still only a 10 min walk to Khao san. I will definitely be returning. Remember to take enough dollar to buy Jane a beer ;). This guesthouse is the best guesthouse I've had. The manager, Jane, is lovely and really helpful. Almost all the guests who come there are coming back because of the atmosphere. Everybody ishanging out together, cooking together and going out. The location is perfect. Near to khao san but too far to be bothered by noise of it. If I'm going back to bangkok I will go definitly back to Jane!. Jane is an awesome host, super friendly and chatty. She speaks great English. The atmosphere was chill and there were lots of friendly, interesting guests there from around the world. The location is great, right on the river, and the view is super beautiful. A ten minute walk from Kao San and lots of good food. The dorm has good locker space under each bed, but bring a lock. This is the only place worth staying in Bangkok. The owner Jane is insane and can cook very well! The common area is great to just chill and meet people from all over the world. The dorm is awesome with lots of space and the private rooms are big too. Cannot say enough good things about this place. This guesthouse is very simple but they got everything you need, wifi, clean and tidy rooms, hot water to drink, kitchen, great river view. Different kinds of rooms, the most cheapest and more expensive with shower and wc inside. After crowded Bangkok you got here as to some village. Nice host. We can cook ourselves , or buy fresh food to ask Jane to cook for us! Eating together is very happy thing. Jane is a nice person, help me even 3 o'clock in the very early morning! Soooooo unforgettable experience ! But one thing, a bit cold at night, pls ask for one more sheet. Brilliant place, Jane and the family makes you want to stay there forever. Actually, you are at the serious risk of not seeing Bangkok at all because its simply to nice and relaxing at this riverside location. Will surely stay again whenever in BKK with a backpack. Fantastic quiet location right next to the river, yet only 15 mins walk from the chaos of Khao San Road. Really cool and boho definetly a place for young people (friends or a couple) but also older people too really can't speak enough good about the place. Very friendly family running the place. Sometimes they cook with guests for a small price (we asked for vegetarian food which was fine). Great riverview, surroundings a bit shabby but characteristic and safe - close to Khao San Road. This is one of the best spots for travelers in all of South-East Asia.Not only the management but the view and the accomodations are perfect and cozy. It was my third time at Phiman but definitely not my last. -10 mins from the main strip - chilled out, earthy, hippy-ish atmosphere along the river. good if ur laid back and dont wanna feel like youre in the middle of it all - staff was very friendly. Trust me when I say it's not that difficult to find, and even if it is a little bit, it's worth it to be away from all the noise of Khao San and Samsen roads, but still close enough to get there easier. There was nothing I actually didn't like just some advice- Mosquitoes, they are everywhere so take a decent spray or you can buy some at the guesthouse. None. I stayed in the dorm and the roof leaked during an intense rain storm, though not on any of the beds. What I dont like is all the negative comments! 1. The showers are cold but its always warm here so whats the problem? 2. It is NOT hard to find. There are loads of signs. Use your eyes people! 3. The place is cleaned everyday and I have NEVER seen a rat. 4. There may be some mosquitos but it is right on the water and the view is more than worth it! Also DEET exists these days, look it up!. People who doesn't like a lot of sounds will face it, as near there is a karaoke and boats on the river don't stop go there and away. But for me it was totally ok. Prices for lAundry are higher than in almost next cafe. Not easy to find the place, but you can ask Thailand taxi driver to call Jane for u, Jane will come out to pick u in. This is more of a backpacker hostel than a guesthouse, so all facilities are quite basic. Rather hard to find, you must carry your bags along some distance of raised walkways from where a vehicle can drop you off. For me the place was amazing, nothing to complain. No air con (only fans) much cooler in the shared room surprisingly but really not a problem. Noisy restaurant neighbouring. Bit difficult to find. Samsen Rd. Soy 5 is a good info for taxi drivers. nothing. -i actually loved the cot-like beds, but when i went it was rainy...and so the room was quite damp, I felt it a bit awkward to just relax in there during the day, but at night i slept fine. Sooo many insects, but it cant be helped because of where it is. Use bug spray!. it's hard to find. late night arrival could be a bit scary but the area seems to be save. Mosquitos (not the fault of the guesthouse though, obviously). People should note shower is cool water only, though this is no problem in the heat of Bangkok. The place is quite basic, but this is to be expected for the great price. Slight mixup almost saw me wrongly charged for a no-show, but it looks like the staff cleared that up. Overall, no major complaints. Very simple accommodations and shared bathrooms. Perfect for budget travelers and solo travelers. The entire spot is on a neighborhood built on stilts, and the water below is not exactly clean, making it a little bit depressive (though others may well disagree). The entrance from the road is quite spooky, and, if this is your first step into Thailand (which we now consider a very safe country to travel through) it could frighten you somehow. Hard to get to, although you do get an email explaining how to get there so you should be fine. Shower isn't the nicest, but hey, it's budget. The mosquito net is broken, so I didn't have a nice sleep. The place is a little bit hard to find, even by the taxi driver. It is expensive if you compare it with other guesthouses in Bangkok. Watch out with the rats, as it is located right in front of the river, but we saw rats all over Bangkok!. It's right on the river so TONS of mosquitoes. Really a backpackers guesthouse, if you prefer a hotel this is not your place. the stangant water under the rooms. No eating option. Hard to find. Rooms are basic at best. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. There is no hot water, although that is not necessarily a problem in scorching Bangkok. It is incredibly noisy from the wooden gang planks to the common area. dirty & noisy. - Dirty room, broken window, difficult access to the guesthouse,. Full of mosquitoes, rustic and dirty. When the river tide is high, the entire area floods leaving you prisoner inside the guesthouse or having to walk barefoot through alleys of dirty water. Location is horrible as it's at the end of a very poor alley maze, and not really close to anything. Terrible value for money as you can find similar or cheaper options much much better in the nearby Khao San area. Not recommended!.
