Highly recommended for a visit to Amsterdam Staff were outstanding We had a medical issue and the night receptionist (at 4am) really went the extra mile to help us. Room was very modern and comfortable and quite large by european standards, high standrad of bedding and amenities such as flat screen TVs. Easy walking distance to both the Van Gogh museum and rikksmuseums A couple of minutes to lots of cafes and retsaurants. Tram stop at the end of the street.
all reviews » This hotel located in the best, area of Amsterdam with lots of great shopping and restaurants near by. Its newly redone and very modern with stylish rooms. The bathrooms are large with flat screens above the tub.I have been happy with their other hotels as well, the Roemer and Vondel. I highly recommend this hotel to any travellers looking to enjoy a great valued option compared to other ones in this expensive city. The staff were helpful. The room was spacious by European standards, and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and everything was provided with the room from a jacuzzi tub, to a large safe that could hold multiple laptops. The location was excellent. The neighborhood was not too touristy, and was close to museums and restaurants, and within walking distance of many of the city sites. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We liked that there was an honor bar in the social sitting area where coffee, tea, beer, wine and snacks were made available 24 hours. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast buffet included your choice of omelets. Brekfast was a bargain. Located near museums, the park, and trams, this hotel was a great find. The location was fantastic--close to designer shopping street and the famous art museums of Amsterdam. Stayed in "family room" for 4 in basement,very compact and cosy and quiet. Thought the option to stay on in your room after check-out time for a few hours charged at a reasonable hourly rate was a great idea. Room was clean and stylish. The children loved the jacuzzi bath. On the sunday our room was not cleaned until after 3pm . Some rooms are smaller than others but are still well appointed with flat screens in the washroom. Not a thing. Liked everything. For a family of 4 the family room was small and it was very fiddly to make tea or coffee. This may be just me, but I think there should be milk in the room to make coffee and tea rather than just artificial creamer, but the staff were very helpful in providing me with a small jug of milk when I asked. If the room was small; the toilet/shower was even smaller...but - to be fair - functional with good shower power. Wash-basin was in the main room by the door...a little strange but worked ok. Nothing. -Very very expensive for the deluxe room, its not that big and doesn't worth the extra money -check in at 3 pm (but you can check out at 1pm sow its not that bad). Although we told the person at the reception to separate the bills for private stay and business stay, they kind of messed up. Room was a bit small (superior/standard double). I couldn't figure out how to operate the coffee-maker in the room and there were no written instructions. But, if I had really needed it, I know I could have asked the receptionist how to operate it. Breakfast was overpriced, and wifi cost €8 per day. The hotel should be a bit larger in giving soap and shampoo as well as changing the bed- linen more often. I also think that the prices (400 euro per some of the nights as against 199 for others) is outrageous. Nothing was annoying enough for comment. The room was lovely but emphasis on design rather than practicality. No shaving point. Sink situated out of bathroom. Poor lighting around sink area. Left hotel with severe backache as bed too soft. Didn't bother to eat here as breakfast ridiculously expensive. Had full English breakfast with coffee for half the price in nearby cafe. Nothing. One very small complaint, the pillows were uncomfortable. Even though the room directory said that different pillows were available, when we asked there were no options. Perhaps a little too far out of town for what we wanted, but still not more than a euro 20 cab fare from most tourist areas. Regular sized rooms are VERY small!. I was missing the toaster for the breakfast. I didn't see it!. No free wireless, breakfast not provided,. poor light in the room, problematic location of the irrors in the room. Wifi connection should be free. Slow, inaccurate checkout - took far too long. Walls in room are in need of repaint - dirty marks on white walls. Air conditioning noisy. Was a little loud at night due to cleaning crews and late arrivals. Mattass too soft for my taste. Some of design details in the room are not that functional, but again might be personal. Wifi conection should be free of charge. I tried dinner this time. Not very special cooking. They messed up our booking. We booked two rooms and when we arrived at 5:30 A.M. after travelling all night we found they only had one room and two of us had to shuffle off to another hotel. Not happy!!!. Thought breakfast was expensive so did not eat there although I would prefer to eat at the hotel. It would be batter to include a basic breakfast in the main price. The prices of the items in the room. A chocolate bar for €3 is a bit much. Overpriced breakfast, which we opted not to have. Room was a little small, but I guess that's the case with all hotels located in older buildings. Rather expensive plus we found we were liable for city tax which was not previously mentioned. Corridors cramped. The fact that I travelled half way around the world to see a Van Gogh museum and stayed in a hotel across the road and when I got to Amsterdam I found the museum was closed. By the time I walked the one hour to the place the exhibition had moved to it was shut and our itinerary did not us time to go back the next day so I cried for hours. lighting in the wash hand basin area. Price quoted excluded some local taxes which we found confusing. nothing. Rooms small. Car parking very expensive.
