This hotel was fantastic. My first time in Amsterdam and I had heard and read from reviews that the rooms in Dutch hotels were small - not at this hotel! I stayed in a twin room and there was plenty space! Beautiful shower and bath, with a toilet in a separate room. A large window for natural light and many mirrors and wardrobe space, room cleaned and fresh towels every day. Food was great and buffet breakfast too. Sauna was fantastic as was the swimming pool. It is very elegant, clean, the stuff is professional and nice and helpful.we came to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday which was a surprise for him.before our come I told the hotel stuff that this was a very important travel and occasion for us. We got the card with an birthday invitation for 2 to the sky bar for drinks-it was very nice of the hotel, cause in many other places they kept on 'forgetting' about special request, but not here!! The location of . It was very clean, a good size, and comfortable especially the bed which although described as a double was at least a king size and possibly larger. En-suite had both a bath and separate walk-in shower. Toilet was also separate from the bathroom! Room was cleaned and tidied each day and fresh towels provided. Excellent hotel, highly recommend and would certainly stay there again. It is also very convenient for the airport being 1-2 stops on the tram followed by 1 stop on a sprinter train. Very. Tram 2 brings you in 10-15 min in the city centre. The hotels very modern design might not suit everyone but if you can put this to one side then you will not be disappointed. Breakfast is expensive by UK standards at about €18 so we ate out and there are plenty of nice cafes at a much more reasonable price. Apart from that the only slight downside is that it is equal distance from the two nearest tram stops which are a 5-7 minute walk. Cost of breakfast. As we don't eat a large amount we ate out. Location slightly far from center but as a young couple we found it easy to walk to the tram station (about 5 minutes from the hotel) then take the tram to center (20 minutes to central station). only slight negative is the location, there is a 5 mimute walk to tram stop then about 10 mins tram into city centre, not a problem for us but if difficulties in walking then it might be. - rooms were not dirty but not super clean - stairs to enter the building from the P+R is annoying with luggage. Towels were not very soft & were Ageing :(. The wellness/pool staff should be more 'customer service' friendly when it comes to guest checking out the pool w/ clothes on. I understand you have to be in a bathing suit only inside the pool area/room but guest like to check/scope out all the accessible rooms before even considering on using them. Saw the staff down there speaking to guest way too harsh. There are other ways to approach a guest and informing them they need to be in their bathing suits past the door that leads into the pool. The hotel was a little too far from central amsterdam. Nothing. No drinking water at rooms. The road at the front of the hotel is currently being resurfaced so taxis were dropping you off all over but that's nothing to do with the hotel at all which I found faultless. Nothing really. Small point on poor directions on hotel web site to Amsterdam Lelyaan station: very easy to walk there rather than take tram one stop. The hotel is very easily accessible by train from Schipol but seems to underplay this. Wi-Fi was a little patchy, can be improved. Rules concerning viewing/use of the pool could have been more helpfully explained - otherwise all good... A tinted or opaque shower room glass door and window would be appreciated for privacy. You have to pay extra for sauna and for the 2nd ...3rd...towels. Not exactly in the city center (about 20 mins from Central station by tram and + 10 mins to the tram...acceptable but not always). Few tv programs, nothing from Eastern Europe... Water bottle in cafeteria and room service overcharged! 5.00! for filtered water 750 ml. 10 min walk from nearest Tram station. Unfortunately while we were there the a/c was broken and, as the hotel is right by a busy road AND a motorway, sleeping at night with the windows open was not an option. If it hadn't been for this there would have been no negatives at all!. Not much else nearby. Breakfast add-on is oddly expensive (more than some evening meals). Not a big problem- but the glass doors in the bathroom may be rather embarassing if you are sharing with someone you don't know very well. I have to say I didn't like the fact the gym didn't give water and didn't have a weight training space with mirrors. But it was not something to complain about because the hotel was flawless in all other areas! Maybe would expect the sauna to be free but not a real negative. A quarter mile hike to the nearest tram station. Use the Surinamenplein tram stop rather than the one listed on the hotel website. Sauna useage should be included with room. Breakfast was expensive although it was excellent. The electric kettle was leaking and it was located in a drawer. The roomkeeping was not satisfying: the room was not cleaned enough,during our three-day stay there were no additional tea bags and soap/shampoo. Nothing. The location is a little out of town, however it does run close to the tram line. The staff were not as friendly and helpful as our last visit. Some staff...not all but some were really moody and miserable. There was a problem with a faulty extractor fan in the room which meant it didn't switch off but the hotel moved us to another room and compensated us for the inconvenience when we complained. Breakfast expensive so we ate elsewhere Car parking is a ridiculous price (25 euros a day), as suggested by a previous reviewer, use the park and ride (P&R) about 5 minutes away for 8 euros a day which includes free tram tickets to the centre. expensive parking, but i think it's a feature of Amsterdam.
