Having stayed at the Family Inn Saiko for almost a week I have to say that the whole experience has been a truly pleasant one! In fact, I would go even so far as saying that it was one of the most pleasant experiences in a few years worth of travelling.
Staff are extremely friendly, helpful and make one immediately feel at ease.

I loved how friendly and helpful the hotel staff was and how willing they were to assist me in my travels as well as answer my questions and concerns. The room was VERY clean and comfortable and it was a great Japanese cultural experience. It was conveniently located close to 3 subway stops, including the Ikebukuro station. I definitely enjoyed my stay here and if I am ever in Tokyo again, I will be staying here again! I have already recommended the Family Inn Saiko to friends!

more info on andon ryokan
My stay at Andon was a real bliss from the begining till the end. First, the hotel is very beautiful: the design is a perfect balance between traditional japonese objects/setting and contemporary architecture/colours/furnitures. So if you tend to be a 'design conscious' person, Andon is the place to be.
For a very reasonable price you can have th

This modern version of a ryokan is a great mix of new and traditional design. The four women staff we met were delightful, spoke English, helped with directions etc (thanks, Yuka). Rooms are small, of course, but there was a place for everything. Shared facilities were good quality, clean and well-supplied. Good breakfast choices, and teas and good coffee on demand. Quiet neighbourhood to see real Japanese life and 10 mins to metro for easy access to tourist spots. We enjoyed the experience an

The Shinagawa Prince Hotel is actually a complex of 4 different
buildings and each one has different amenities, E.G., our hotel
didn't have an ice machine anywhere in the building but our friends
who were staying in another building did have one. They also had free
wi-fi and we had free ethernet (which doesn't do you much good with

them) without a fee and without batting an eye. -
The hotel has many wings and rooms with different profiles. The cheaper ones are standard Japanese business hotels, i.e. very small, cheap, functional. The more expensive ones give more space and luxury. Both offer good (if not extraordinary) value for money IMHO.
The unique selling point of this hotel is that it's a 3min walk from Shinagawa station from which you can get Shinkansen to Kyoto/Osaka, and Yamanote for pretty much anywhere.

Great, efficient, very friendly, clean. Note that there isn't wi-fi but there's a computer to use. You can't leave your bag for a while once you'e checked out, but if you're staying multiple nights you can leave it throughout the in-between days, if that makes sense. Still giving this five stars because everything promised was delivered to the highest standard. The sleeping capsule was very nice. The sitting-areas (breakfast-salong). The smokers place in second floor, on an outdoor stair with view to a traffic section and the under-side of a concrete road, and buildings. The well equipped shower-room: Outside the small spa itself there were many seats with their own basin and mirror and products and dryers m.m.
Mens spa has a proper pool. Several very good 24-hour convenience-stores near the hotel.

It was our first night in Japan. The room and bed was very small. But it was nice and clean. It is a standard business hotel, like you find everywhere. The restaurant was very nice. It was close to Asakusa Station. The temple and market is in 10 min walking distance. Good train connection to explore the city. The area can be a bit quiet in the evening.
